$200 should get you just the Wide Converter only.

Seems like this is a vvery popular camera. Today I checked with CP, AP and MS, all no more stock. Sigh ~ Looks like I've to wait a while to get mine.

The wide-conversion lens itself already cost $180. If u wan to get the full set of accessories, be prepared to fork out at least $400.

May I ask how is the performance of the Wide-conversion len? What is the limit of the zoom level before it becoming unable to focus?
Thanks

Is comex 2008 coming? Do you guys think that there will be an offer for the s5?

How about Pixels Digital next to AP @ Funan?

IMO, just stick to the regular stores for a better shopping experience.

In the menu u must select the WC-DC58A, image quality is still very gd despite adding it on. Limit of AF?? On the screen it'll tell u the range and if u're not in macro mode, it's 50cm to infinity at wide end and zoom a bit more to the tele end will be 90cm to infinity. In macro mode it's 30cm to 50cm, above the yellow region it's 90cm to infinity. In super-macro mode it's standard as u cannot zoom so it remains at the wide end. In this mode u can focus as close even until the lens touch the subject.

Thanks. So with the canon WC-DC58A, you could zoom to maximum tele and still could obtain sharp image, i.e. correct focus could be acheived through out the entire range of zoom level (12X), right?
The reason I asked is that I have a cheap WA lense, which I could not acheive correct focus when I zoom in to a certain level.
Thanks.
P.S. How much did you pay for the lense? Do you know where to get it cheapest?

No, you cannot zoom all the way out on almost all the WC lenses I have come across. You can get focus lock, its just that the IQ drops.

Take a look at the Lensmate site, they have sample images.

I am using the Raynox 6600 Pro, got it second hand.

Stick to those I have mentioned. Better shopping experience ... :D

I browsed through all the stores mentioned and came across Pixels Digital who offered $700 cash for the camera. Since the other stores did not have stock for this model, I just took up the offer. No problem with their service.

Actually sold off my S5IS to one of our members here, but I still have my brother's S5 to play with.

Now, he's asking me if he should go for a 52mm (if it's available here) or a 58mm adaptor with a good wide angle lens and a tele.

Now I know you guys are the experts around here, so maybe you can help me (him) out.

I've been looking around a liitle bit myself and found the brand "lensmate", but nobody here in SG seems to be carrying this around.

Another thing he needs is a clear filter for the lens adapter (to prevent dust/ scratches to the lens) when he's not using any lens attachment - so are there any recommendations? Or should he just use a clip-on lens cap for the lens adapter?

Will appreciate it if you could recommend the shops to get these accessories too.

Thanks all in advanced.

Hi all S5 users,

To those who are keen to get high quality conversion lenses from Raynox of Japan instead of the original Canon converters, please check out our compatibility chart on the page below. If you never heard of Raynox, do check it out also. Just click on the link on S5IS:
http://www.mcgill.com.sg/shop/gallery.php?osCsid=6c3e6f0951d81b1a90dc6ae727c9325e

Bestsellers for Canon S Series are the DCR-6600PRO and DCR-1540PRO w/metal lens hood. For macros, it's still the DCR-250 and CM-2000A. Limited stock.

Raynox lenses are getting more popular in Singapore due to their detailed technical descriptions of the lens capability as compared to the converter lenses of the original brands. Each lens comes with a resolution number so you can figure out your needs for each shooting.

There's only slight price differences compared to the original converters but almost every Raynox product comes with obvious improvement in quality!

Cheers,
Jim, McGill.
