sigh... think next time I'll just use the lcd to take pictures.

The damage is on the "father and daughter" and "little girl" pictures (heads being cropped)... tried to salvage the damage by cropping the original pictures smaller... u guys think it helped?

Using the LCD to take drains up more power than the EVF. For me generally i will use the EVF just like using my DSLR. If i've to take pics with very low, high or awkward angles, then i'll use the LCD.

For me, I think using the LCD is the best part about digital cameras. I like composing with the LCD on the S5IS.

so far most of the shop selling $698....$700
after July 7, what is the price for canon S5 IS ?

For me, from S1 to S5, I have never used the EVF. The LCD is there, and I use it to the fullest. I don't think my pictures suffered because I used the LCD instead of the EVF. They look fine to me. Battery consumption is not a problem at all. With a full charged set of batteries, it should be able to get you through your day, movies and all.

I think $698 is already very low. It is $100 cheaper than the list price. As a point of reference, the Canon staff price is just a few kopis away from $698. I am quite certain the price will inch up a little after the GST increase. It's $20 increase for every $1000.

Bally Photo Funan quoted me $693 with GST.

Don't know about you, but I've learned (like quite a few CS-ers) to avoid that shop like the plague. Very SLS-esque modus operandi.

Yes. It has both a wide and tele converter. The wide reduces FOV at 0.75X (becoming 27mm). Price should be $100+.

Mass Order Thread. Under Jim McGill - Raynox

Good Wide Angle, Tele and Macro Lenses

Used the DCR-6600PRO 52mm thread on the S2IS and loved it.

Cheers...

hi , can show pic of the whole thingy ?
my fren say S5is put adapter and lens... very bukly very ugly.... :D

I actually went to a shop in Sim Lim (never heard before shop) and was psychoed to purchase the adaptor (58mm) and UV lens at $66. The adaptor is actually meant for S3 but it fits, so I went ahead to purchase it. Hope I made the right decision... coz it seems most people here buy adaptors that are 52mm?

its up to individual. The purpose is to allow you to do macro or tele shots, extend the capabilities of the camera.

browser thru the threads about photos taken using S1/2/3. Most of them used with adapters.

:)
