Somes buses in still do, just had it on SMRT 169 earlier.

Anyway, I will pay anything more (or even via a longer route) to just take SMRT buses. I am not so sure about the smell, but I am sure of the bad attitude the SBS drivers do have. I was on SBS 29 last month to Changi Broadwalk, and on this occasion, there was another SBS bus that almost hit a lorry, and so it halt in the middle of the tiny street. After nearly a minute or 2, the SBS 29 driver start hitting the horn (and hold on the horn) untill the bus finally move another minute later.

I still have not encounter any SBS driver that will greet. I loved the way some SMRT drivers greets, especially after a hectic day, how warm that feels like.

Maybe I had been serviced by SMRT for too long, but I prefer the sound of the engines SMRT buses produced (those nice old squarish Mercedes-Benz or bendy Mercedes-Benz). And I prefer (green led) digital signboards as well.

Not to mention this, a SMRT 963 driver spent nearly 20 minutes to explain the route 963 is taking and telling me about the things I can do in HarbourFront, just as though I am a tourist.

One setback though; SMRT buses uses those blueish-white light, while those yellowish-white light actually appeared more suitable, just as those in SBS buses.

As for the seat, is it really hard? I thought it simply trap dust (those furry-kind, in most Mercedes-Benz SMRT buses). Try hitting the seat next time while you are on a SMRT bus, you will find yourself amongst a dust storm.

SMRT has better kept buses. Cleaner, and the air-con is better. Seats are comfortable too.

SBS is terrible. Slow, smelly.

SBS thinks singaporeans all hobbits or something. leg room is so damn little!!!

hahaha

SBS either too cold or no aircond.
Only install fan.
When feedback to them.
Standard reply. Feedback until I siao...

Don't even bother to improve it and only know to ask for more money. Charge extra.
Very slow

Tibs is faster and the bus is cleaner.
The main pt, don't have the freeze picture (The mobile TV).
See until headache.

I quite like the TIBS Bendy buses. For some reason I think they are mush faster than the normal ones. Something that always bug me is the air con. Its either too cold or not cold at all. In general, I think TIBS buses are better kept and cleaner. Those re-furbished SBS buses are a bain for my life. I frown upon their existence and would skip them if I can afford the time. Loud engines, crap shakey seats, cockroaches.......

I am very happy whenever there is NO tv mobile

Actually I like the thick cushions of the SBS buses... Can open my legs, sit back and relac....

although SMRT buses' seats are not as thick and bouncy as SBS, i prefer the shape of the chairs and bright, roomy and open space inside the bus.

i may be wrong here. it seems SMRT buses do not have advertisement plastered over their windows.

Last time de SBS bus quite comfy (previous generation ones), but now i prefer Tibs de as it seems more roomy.

OT abit, you guys got any favour seats on SBS / TIBS buses?
SBS - those single seats and the seats nearest the driver facing the staircase on double-deckers.
TIBS 'regular' bus - Seats in front of the wide open standing area, seats behind the rear exit
TIBS 'special' bus - Those wide single seats in a row
TIBS bendy bus - Prefer those seats right behind the bendy point. Super legrooms.

I prefer to take a window seat. I'm sure the passenger beside me wun like it if I take the aisle seat and start nodding off to sleep. :D

They do... some of them only.

I might be wrong but it seems that TIBS drivers are a lot better trained.

When I used to serve my NS back in Seletar Camp, the West Camp bus driver is usually very nice to drop me and pick me up straight in front of my unit's main gate as it was along the travelling route even though the bus stop was like 50m away. :) He seems to know everyone on the West Camp route though.

I still see him at Yishun Interchange occasionally.

generally, smrt buses give me the cheery and brighter impression than sbs's. you can imagine a double decker with smaller window space at the lower deck with advertising to cut out the light. upper deck gives me greater discomfort with brakings.

which unit were you with? i was with the reserve engineers next to 35 then.

didn't take note, but sometimes I take bus 7 or 147 (doubledeck aircon) got a very bad smell. also make me wanna puke, but already tapped, even get off next bus stop, 60c gone... :(

its 64 cents now, darm the hike!

NONE - SMRT and SBS buses are designed by dwarfs for dwarfs.... the seats are so freaking small...

The only SBST buses I like are the low-floor buses...the seats are among the most spacious among the SBST buses. SMRT buses usually have big enough seats for me.

I don't consider myself especially tall (1.76m - but quite big size), but it seems that SBST buses are designed to take only school children. It's so obvious when there is a noticable difference in leg room between seats from different sides of the aisle.

Anyway, I'm more frustrated on how some bus drivers drive. They seem to know that you are tight for time and therefore drive slowly to torture you, purposely driving slow nearing a junction so as to catch a red light.

They are always late too!
Once i saw 4 (no kidding!!!) service number '8' buses back to back arriving at a bus stop....

35SCE shld be in East Camp near to the Coast Guard Seletar Base (now closed and relocated liao).

I'm located in West Camp. :)

Comparing SBS Transit and SMRT, I actually prefer SMRT buses. I am not a bus guy but will have to board them when no other choices are available (besides taxi, what other do we have?).

I like the raw power of their buses (noticed the pick up power?) and their seats. Though the cushioning is not as thick as SBS, I like it. Somehow, it fits better. Ha ha ha. :p

not exactly. early this year during my ICT, i have to travel all the way from clementi to yishun by SMRT buses 184 & 171 changing via Bukit Panjang. the morning trip is nice, cooling & fast for both buses. i like it. but on my journey back, usually get to leave early ard 4+, both rides were horible! the aircon doesn't seem to blow any air, and the weather was so terribly hot and humid. i wasn't perspiring at first but just after 171 turned into Mandai Road, i was perspiring like i just did 2.4km run.

finally, i got off the bus at Bukit Panjang and it was a "feels so good". then came bus 184, it was a bendy and most of you should have guessed it has pretty good air condition. i was wrong. the entire bus was another hell. :thumbsd: and i have to go through this suffering for 2 weeks! :faint:

and there were times when the bus is earlier/faster than schedule, drivers
will go at a slow speed deliberately....something like 20km/hr....then will
purposely go into every bus stop when no passengers alight/broad just
to drag more time or purposely go very slow towards traffic light (green
light) just to hope it will turn red so can drag more time...
very idiotic, dun they know that some passengers on board are rushing for
time ??!!

i think i get down and run also faster than the bus :thumbsd:
