hmmm... interesting thought. don't know why i've never thought of that before. probably can even time which car fills up the fastest.
anyway, since you are so bitter on this Shell thingy, i suggest you bring your thoughts to Shell itself. you can tell them...
1. that they made life miserable for you and others on 24/10/09 from 10am to 6pm.
2. that they should compensate for economic losses from 10am to 6pm on 24/10/09.
3. that they have no respect for other road users.
4. that they created so many schmucks on 24/10/09 from 10am to 6pm.
5. that they (Shell) suck big time.
6. that Esso, Caltex and SP are far better than them.
7. etc...
oh, here is the link (to save you time from searching) to their general enquiries/feedback;
http://www.shell.com/home/forms/sg-en/contact/enquiry_order/form_media_corporates.html
complain direct to them and see what they say. there's no point hiding in the comfort of your home and complaining here. be a man... storm their offices and protest! if they don't even bother... bring the matter to your MP.
dude, this... i fully agree with you. i hate them bunch of whining and kiasu schmucks.
Stop trying to be a smartass. But then again, I guess we shouldn't expect anything more from you. Obviously your points are written from the viewpoint of a 12 year old, and you are trying to illicit some form of response from Kit, but a lack of response to your childishness is what you shall receive.
In any case, I've already written to Shell and the LTA previously to disparage Shell's actions and their lack of social responsibility.
The 3 main points highlighted in my email, are summarized as follows:
1) Causing massive traffic problems for the general road user
2) Causing problems for public transportation. As highlighted by many others already, those on buses and in taxis were not spared from this chaos.
3) During long waiting times, cars are usually on idle, leading to a much higher emission of greenhouse gases and higher petrol consumption. For a company that says they are trying their best to be an environmentally friendly company (the irony), their actions and the results of their actions show the exact opposite.
Shell's answer to my previous email was that they had set up hotlines for people to voice their concerns to. And that's about it. I'm in the process of writing another lengthy email to Shell's management directly.
LTA's stance is that it's not illegal, so they can't do anything about. Shell probably feels the same way too. As long as there are profits, nothing else matters. Then again, they are an oil company, so we shouldn't expect anything less from them as well.
The main problem lies with a lack of social responsibility by both Shell, and the typical Singaporean, like mohgui. As long as it benefits them, it doesn't matter if they are causing problems for other people. As long as this mindset remains, it will be tough to prevent Shell and Singaporeans from repeating this again in the near future.
With that being said, the fault still lies with Shell, and not the road user. There are just too many Singaporeans looking fore freebies and handouts, and it's Shell's fault for providing these massive discoutns.
