If they wanna to offer the discount, they got to pay the price isn't it? (OT, logistics, whatever). Btw, isn't petrol stations operate 24hrs? As for additional manpower, well, maybe not necessary. Since there is minimum traffic on the road, the drivers can queue for 2 or 4 hours what.. let them queue if they like lor..
Why offer the discount and make innocent users pay the price?
Those who are keen to enjoy the savings can queue for hours.. they can go to the station in the middle of the night to pump up too.
The difference between what shell actually did and what they should have done (midnight to 6am) is,
What they actually did, it resulted in great inconvenience to innocent users on the road. And the innocent parties may not be willing to suffer the inconvenience.
What they should have done, it may cause inconvenience to those who benefit from it. And they may be willing to endure the inconveniences to enjoy the benefits.
So, isn't it better to have the promotion from 12mn to 6am.. and on a weekend even better.
And, if any shop were to offer 40% discount on camera gears from 1am to 4am, I guess many photographers will be delighted too.
but having the discount period from midnight to 0600 hours incur additional cost too. you need to pay OT for additional hands to be around. what about the auxiliary police? you need them to be around too. wouldn't this period of time be inconvenient to people too as most would want to sleep.
