I don't mean to use it like a tripod but let's say I found the angle that I want and want to keep it that way with me standing beside it without the need to hold on to it.

Thanks for all your feedback. Manfrotto whould have a sure winner here if they had somehow build in a way to let the monopod stand on it own. But then again it would not be a monopod any more isn't itBut then again, this isn't your typical monopod since it has 3 legs !!! With 3 legs its no more mono. When I get mine (later) maybe I can rig my own support to make it stand on its own.
The reason I am asking is - a monopod is definitely much more mobile but there would be times when you want to keep a stationary shot even for a short while and if it cannot be locked then this choice is limited. I don't think I will be able to hold a shot entirely with just a monopod. Well OK maybe for some seconds ..................

soon this could be a cheaper alternative the the manfrotto vide monopod
Is there a Fluid head option for the Sirui?
Just bought this monster from Cathay today.

It is always in my car boot; I never leave for any assignments without it, be it video or photo assignments.
