Manfrotto 561BHDV-1 Video Monopod

checking in together with the hand carry.

This phrase is at very best, confusing. Haha.

Just check it in, have a tripod bag for it.

Will you be using it on the plane? Chances are no so why bother?

The only things you should hand carry are your camera equipment, support equipment can sit in cargo.

And don't forget bubble wrap for padding.

You can hand carry if you don't have a big enough luggage bag ...

Just put it into a proper bag cause it looks pretty dangerous to airline security ... Some ppl just fishing stick bags or pool cue bags cause some tripod bags not tall enough ... The 561 is still pretty 'long' at its lowest point.

For long haul trips, I have a huge luggage to put in with my other stuff so we don't need to worry about it ... and just carry the cameras and lens onboard.

Thanks for sharing :)
i guess i will need to buy the $80 Manfrotto tripod bag for checking in :)
didnt buy it that day thou..

Someone mentioned that CP sells this with unmodified 701HDV head (tilting + pan), can I confirm if this is still the case?
More interested in this because it gives me the option to use the head on regular sticks.

Mind sharing the price CP is selling this combi for? Thanks!

561 is always with the 701 and legs. Legs are not sold seperarely

If u want the head just buy the 701. I think cp sells around $1xx.

Exactly the same but with the pan lock.

There are plenty of bags out there that can fit the monopod, not just manfrotto. Look around and you might find a cheaper one.

I just missed out a deal on S$50 Manfrotto Tripod bag...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, to get the 701 separately + either the 562-B1 or 560-B1. Works out to be about S$30 extra overall.
Someone mentioned in this thread that CP sells it with the unmodified 701, but likely to be a miscomm somewhere lah. Will check with CP. Thanks!

It's a bit of a hassle to change it around in run-and-gun situations, but I guess if it's not critical that you change setups fast, then it's fine.

In event work and weddings, there's absolutely no reason to be wasting time on changing the head.

Besides, a 701 runs less than 190 on amazon, should not be a problem investing in that if you're doing work that pays.

On a side note, amazon have really amazing prices on the manfrotto heads.

At BroadcastAsia, I enquired about the 502AH and it was about $350. That same model goes on amazon for 171USD, with shipping to singapore (8-16 days), it's only 202USD.

And now with the exchange at close to 1.2, a rough estimate would be around $250....almost the same price as a 501HDV here locally.

Yeah, I know :) Changing lens is tricky enough, much less change tripod heads... haha. I'd like to see someone do that.
Will probably pop it on regular sticks for sit-down interviews, stage stuff etc.

Yeah, amazon quotes the lowest shipping too, compared to Adorama and BHP.
Too bad there are some items that Amazon can't ship direct to SG due to restrictions.

What kind of restrictions? As far as I know it's only the tax issue. With regards to camera equipment I don't think there's much restrictions.

Manufacturer imposed probably, applies to a wide range of goods.

You'll get this notice when checking out your cart with an SG address. People work around it by using a freight-forwarding service.

Warranty issues and manufacturer restrictions prevent us from shipping certain products to all geographical locations.

You don't get this unless you pick a vendor that's not fulfilled by Amazon.

If it's fulfilled by Amazon, it'll more or less ship here. You have to select the vendor manually by clicking on the link that tells you how many sellers are there, then select the seller.

But sometimes it's just not possible even after selecting Amazon. I thought your issue was one-off, but i tried adding the 560B item and it wouldn't ship to SG. The 701HDV does though.

I have never used freight forwarders for amazon yet.

Hi guys,

Was reading that buying from amazon is cheaper? What happens if the equipment is faulty then, or spoilt? Where can we repair it?

And also how do we check how much is the shipping fee? Sorry first time looking at amazon here...

Thanks

Just bought mine from amazon (first time i bought anything from Amazon). You have to proceed all the way through the whole checkout process. Until right before you confirm your order, and from there you will be able to see your total cost. Got mine with the slowest shipping for sgd$345.

i got mine for $385 at CP :)

Good price in Singapore. I also got it from CP due to urgent needs.

Now I need another head to fit my China tripod, which is a clone of 190B tripod which I bought years ago :) Remove the original head and replace with 701 Tripod head is most econ way for me now.

I've been using it for 2years...it's great for video work primarily... but if your main aim is to use it for photo then it's not really ideal. For video I use it to get high angles and'crane shots'
