Does anyone find ball joint at the feet a hindrance sometimes to getting really smooth panning and tilting shots. If only it comes with a lock like a ballhead! Or maybe i should really tighten the joint more?
The joint does come in useful for swing or imitating slider type of shots though.
There's something called a tripod for that purpose. And I think what you mean is you can't do leveled pans and tilts.
The monopod is a versatile stabilization tool because not only is it less bulky than a tripod, it minimizes shake AND can still pan and tilt smoothly, but not as uniform as a leveled tripod. It was never
Yes I was referring to leveled pan and tilt. But I thought that the monopod could be improved if there is some kind of lock at the ball joint, similar to a ball head. Better still if there is another nob to adjust the tension of the joint further.

It's already expensive as it is. If it were much more expensive with those features I'd pass. But honestly, if there were an all-in-one solution, there wouldn't be a need for other stabilizers, and that is only one good thing to it.
The worst thing is that manufacturers will make you pay a (much) higher premium just for the added features, as witnessed in quite a few situations already though I can't remember which.
Ahhhh I just ordered on Amazon and stock just arrive at CP!
Anyway what bags are you guys using for 561 and in regards to the warranty by manfrotto, do I send it back to amazon or can I get local warranty coverage?
Real cheap alternative by Benro I want to share with you guys. Price range from USD179 - USD199.
What gives it an edge is the ability to pan on both the fluid cartridge ball joint below and the top. You can remove the tripod head and use it for other tripods.
Was launched in NAB 2013. Not available yet, but surely an afforable alternative. i'm gonna wait for it
If anybody is interested to buy let me know, we can mass order and share shipping.

I bought a Manfrotto Tripod Bag MBAG90PN big enough for my 561 BHDV-1 and a Slik pro 700 with 701 HDV head. Note that it has 2 versions - padded and unpadded.
Users, please remember to do your monthly maintainence to check on the mini leg's allen key screws (for tightening) as well as oil it to keep the ball leg smooth flow.

Non-padded version is S$15 cheaper I think. I reckon the padded one is important to protect the 2 fluid heads I have as they rest just nicely with rooms left on the padded opening hatch rather than inside the bag which the diameter is smaller towards the end.
