Malaysia Airlines plane missing...

The money crunch is starting to bite. MLY or MAS cannot afford to endlessly foot the hotel accommodation bills.

OZ Tony Abbot already said if MLY wants to search, it can - MLY only has to pay the commercial search companies.

So when MLY receives the first multi-million dollar bill for a fixed period (say 1 month) of search, and know that there are many more such bills yet to come if the search is never ending, it will put a stop to it.

The search enters the commercial phase, and it's another opportunity for UMNO to grease the palms of it's cronies by offering them expensive search and salvage contracts...
Do they even have such skills and connections? The amount of companies who can perform such search and recover operations is very limited. The recovery of AF447 did not involve any coconuts, from what I read.

Nope, but during the nearly two years search for the Airbus A330-203 (F-GZCP) operating as Air France Flight 447 (Air France 447), there was a prolonged dispute over the cost of the finances involved until eventually Airbus has to step in with their own contributions even though they are legally not obliged to do so. These contributions was handled by a trust fund to avoid any possible conflict of interest that may affect the independence and integrity of the investigation led by the French Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA).

Such a fund would be a wise thing to do. I wouldn't be surprised seeing the Chinese government chipping in here to get to the bottom of it (literally).

MAS is not doing well, they won't be able to handle this. Petronas has money, and it frees the Malaysian government from directly giving money, even if there are many links to Petronas and other such companies.
Then they pay these companies to do the salvage work, even if they do know how, they will get vast sums, and some of it will end up in the right pockets..

Experts and lawyers on US TV network shows have warned that it is not in the interests of Boeing that MH370 is found. Yet Boeing is actively engaged in the team to find it and even peer review Inmarsat prediction of where MH370 is. Another expert commented that Boeing is one of the parties to be investigated as per normal air crash investigation. Yet in this case, it is one of the team doing the investigation.

The world makes fun of Malaysian bomoh and his 2 coconuts+magic carpet method.
But I applaud him for daring to show his methodology and techniques used in arriving at that prediction.
Inmarsat also makes a prediction but steadfastly refuses to reveal to the whole world (and other sceptical knowledgeable scientists) the data on which their prediction is based.

What is the similarity between Inmarsat and Malaysian bomoh? Both make predictions.
What is the difference between Inmarsat and Malaysian bomoh? The Malaysian bomoh is 100% transparent.

Why, the bomoh shared all the secrets of his magic arts behind those public displays with you so you can see what others cannot? :bsmilie: To me the bomohs are not transparent but naked embarrassment to themselves & to their country! You may applaud their methods & techniques but others may see it as unashamed acts of stupidity, not courage nor wisdom :bsmilie:

Be realistic, confidential & critical data will not be openly released to every tom, dick & harry, every self-appointed analyst, critic & expert to have a free-for-all that may lead to greater confusion, arguments & counter-claims. This is like evidence in on-going police investigation, let those appointed to investigate to do their stuff & then disclose their findings. I don't think anyone implicated can get away with it so easily, not with something this big. I think you don't think you are stupid on this, neither are others. :)

...
...As for peer review, well say for example Joseph Goebbels wanted to do a review of the holocaust policy to check if it was the correct thing to do. He then chooses peers such as Heinrich Himmler and Hermann Göring. They do a peer review. The result of such a peer review is a foregone conclusion.

LOL. I am flabbergasted, what an analogy of "peer review" of "holocaust policy" with already long dead WW2 big time Nazi war criminals in present context! :)

To be frank, I do not think the Chinese really cares with regards to this but it does shows publicity a real significant geographical gaps in their Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) defence capabilities specifically in the detection and tracking of Indian launched Agni series of Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile (IRBMs) / Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) and K-15 Sagarika Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles (SLBMs) targeted against mainland China.

This will only give a valid reason for the Chinese government to accelerate developments if not expedite pre-existing arrangements by bringing forward the People's Liberation Army (PLA) military expansion plans for a Over-The-Horizon (OTH) radar system and Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) / Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) interception facilities for region wide monitoring to be deployed at the Coco Islands in the north-eastern Indian Ocean, just 20 kilometre north of the Andaman Islands.

I didn't know that there was any space left below the level where the bomoh coconuts are - but ricohflex found it. What a talent.

the story so long? someone actually read it? got short version?
don't waste time on speculation.

If such a huge plane can fly until nobody knows their last destination, it shows all these brag about being able to pin point a human hiding is just bullshit. Ultimately, you need a lead to guide them where to look for.

Let's hope we can have an answer fast and everyone working together to put an end to this.

Malaysian Plane’s Likely Flight Path Gets Second Look

“We’ve got to this stage of the process where it’s very sensible to go back and have a look at all of the data that has been gathered, all of the analysis that has been done and make sure there’s no flaws in it, the assumptions are right, the analysis is right and the deductions and conclusions are right,” Angus Houston, head of the search operation, told reporters in Canberra.

Right.

Better late than never.

All along, China has been demanding the data so that it and world renowned experts can do this re-check.
