Malaysia Airlines plane missing...


Spoke to a Captain the other day.... asked him what he thinks.... answer " I think it's parked somewhere ".

That is what i think too.
Else it is impossible that no debris found.
 

American radar experts have been asking for it.
Inmarsat stubbornly refuses to share the data - maybe they are afraid to have errors pointed out by more competent scientists.
Tens (or hundreds?) of millions of dollars have been wasted looking for something in south Indian Ocean.
What if the Inmarsat calculations were wrong - and the plane is somewhere else very far away in a different compass direction.
Case classified as an ongoing criminal investigation. Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) of the United Kingdom (UK) had previously advised Inmarsat PLC. based in London not to release any raw data or proprietary information that hasn't been authorised for media / press release.

Whatever it is, I'm sure they have their good reasons for this course of action towards the public and immediate stakeholders within the Joint Agency Coordination Centre (JACC) are properly acquainted thus ensuring that their respective interests will not be compromised in anyway.

If the plane is eventually found near to the Inmarsat calculated place then good for them. If the plane is eventually found somewhere else near to Equator or far away north of the Equator, then hard to explain refusal to share the data, in case some one else can spot that they were wrong. The danger of peer review is that one can choose which peers to review.
 

Looks like now is a slugfest for all those self proclaimed experts. For Inmarsat, I think they believe/can claim its not a crime to make a mistake as after all they were only doing their part to be helpful in trying to locate the missing plane to the best of their knowledge & ability? :) The other experts know better & can pinpoint the plane exactly themselves? Whoever does so can claim all the glory & bragging rights to say see I was right & you (& the rest) were wrong! What happened to true cooperation instead of the blame game? Sad.

The plane would have been found by now if they had engaged the services of this gentleman. :D It is not advisable to rely on coconuts for such a search. :dunno:

If the idea is to locate the plane as best they could and in the fastest possible way, then there should not be any fear of revealing the Inmarsat data.
Other experts have asked for it and countries such as China have demanded it.

Jealousy to claim credit for the find is a natural human instinct and explains the stubborn refusal to share the data.

However in this case, if they got it wrong then many ships, planes, blue fins, pinger locators, etc....days/weeks of effort searching and tens (hundreds?) millions of dollars would just be wasted.
It would be in the public interest that others take a look at the data, just to double check in case anyone missed anything or made a miscalculation.

As for peer review, well say for example Joseph Goebbels wanted to do a review of the holocaust policy to check if it was the correct thing to do. He then chooses peers such as Heinrich Himmler and Hermann Göring. They do a peer review. The result of such a peer review is a foregone conclusion.

I thought detecting the blackbox signal has already sealed the fact that the plane is somewhere there (per immarsat calculation)? Just that this blue or red fin is simply not useful to detect anything.
 

Only when someone invented a time machine and back to the date whereby the flight is missing, the mystery will be solved. But then, we mostly become ashes, haha!
 

I tend to agree with him.
Boeing as the manufacturer, should be thoroughly grilled first for answers.
See what is happening to the A380. Continuous series of incidences.

there is certain truth in what he said.

Airliner should be designed so that such total shut-down should not be easily executed.
