LX3?

Is there an underwater case for LX series?

Abit disappointed with the noise control, about the same sensor size as fuji F series but the noise control is uncomparable.

Always the case of good len, not that good sensor. Good sensor not that good lens.

They should put a fuji super ccd in this babe and i am fully sold.

Or rather, Fuji should just develop their PnS to come with full control functionality. I'm using a f100fd, and it's ISO capabilities are second to none within the PnS range.

I've been following the LX3 since it's announced. Now waiting for pricing.

If you wan to compare to Fuji, then must also consider that the lens aperture...2.0 vs 3.3 and 2.8 vs 5.1. Of course the long end is different FL. It might mitigate the ISO disadvantage of the 2 brands.

For me, this is one of those that are on top of my WTB list.

I am still using a Fuji F11. Well it is the fujion lens which is just not as sharp as the Lecia lens.

Erm, that why i said good len not so good sensor. Good sensor not so good lens. Fuji loses out on the not so good lens, which Panasonic lose out on the not so good noise control. I was once a Panasonic Zoom Zoom Zoom user.

But i am still quite tempted by LX3. Have to see real samples for the production unit. Price wise hopefully it is at the 800++ range and below.

ISO 200 seems optimal for it. But ISO800 seems usable leh, juz need some noise reduction treatment

CA seems ok too. Slight barrel in WA.

For me it's only the weight, size and fun factor. This cam still can't beat my 10D in the IQ department. And the leather casing is just sooo retro cool.

My only gripe is that have to remove the optical VF when you want to case the cam in the casing. :(

*edit* 1 thing still pending...AF speed. This is going to me my street-shooting cam..so the AF have to be responsive and lock on fast before subject is aware and the candid moment is lost.

You have yet to be stunned by Super Fujinon EBC lenses!;p

seriously i think it's okay enough what. LX2 has been serving a lot of my needs. mostly giving me nice shots and all - just wish that there'd be slightly more flash controls coz it tends to overexpose flash shots.

noise is not really an issue la.. unless you're really blowing it really huge.

I emailed Panasonic Singapore and this was their response, "Tentatively, DMC-LX3 will be available in late August."

Was looking to get a DSLR but this one seems real promising. Some of the better sample images out there look really great for a P&S.

Visit one of the Best Denski outlet last night, they said that LX3 will be available on August 19.

Alternatively there's micro FourThirds - which I suspect is more of a Panasonic initiative here.

I was extremely keen on the LX-3 before the mFT announcement.

Oh well... :bsmilie:

any idea when m43 is coming?

Why not wait for the next Comex to get this cam?

My only concern about this cam is the lack of zoom.. Most prob will be taking scenic shots while traveling and zoom will definitely come in handy.

Truth be told, m4/3 really really went under my radar - but I believe we should see a soft launch by year's end, and the big shebang at PMA (Feb).

Of course, PannyOly can really shock and awe us by dropping a working body on us by Photokina. Unlikely though.

I would luv a mini E3 wif super fast lens. Lets hope Oly can deliver.

IIRC using LV all the time causes overheating issue on large CMOS sensor, hope that they have resolve it too else a lot of noise would be introduced to the pic. Cam's NR must be super good and have real-time NR too.

Batt life would be me focus too.

I'm watching this thread closely....
So according to one of the post, another few days and d LX3 will be on sale in Sg?

Comex sure come out.
Still considering.... 2.5X Optical zoom?!
24-60mm

Very restrictive.

here already

John $730
Alan Photo (sim lim) $690

both with GST. Left very few only. Quick!
