BTW the both the printed and PDF manual are sh!t !!!
Read already still not understand how to take multi-aspect photo.....:thumbsd:

would the noise across the pic be better contain in smaller resolution like 1600 x 1200 ?

I was intending the buy the ricoh grd2 before I saw this. This looks more bulky than the grd but it shoots 16:9 which is a format I use, and have been cropping my 3:2 for that. If it only takes 1-mega pixels off the area, man this is gonna be gooood.

Quick questions to the owners:
1) Any shutter-lag when using manual focus? This is probably most important to me as I am a MF, large dof user. (which means I am going to ignore IA anyway)
2) Is the shutter sound annoying? It does not have a flip up mirror so I am going to guess it's relatively quiet?
3) What is the write time after 3 consec raw?

kh, was there any in-cam noise reduction in the samples you posted?

Another thing: I think you posted the wrong ISO 80 and 100 samples.

I believe in-cam NR is always there... looking at other offering from Panasonic at Dpreview, the venus4 engine tends to be heavy in NR and smear out the details even at base ISO.

Thanks for the sample contributions so far..
Any samples of low light photography?

Hopefully the RAW from the LX-3 is not cooked by the Venus IV engine; personally I would like to have control over the NR.

Here's another set with some dark / underexposed areas:

ISO 800

ISO 400

ISO 200

ISO 100

ISO 80

Resolution of all the pics are downsized from the in camera JPG files. Not sure how to disable the in-camera NR. As I mentioned earlier, the manual sucks!

dun tink you can disable the in-cam NR.

anyway up to ISO 400 looks good, ISO 800 a little noisy but holds well for compacts.

The focus seem to be softer at the edges, or maybe more aggressive NR, lose quite abit of details?

Yep, 400 is fine. 800 has the Venus IV really cooking, but nice to see that the NR is mostly for chroma noise.

thanks weekh for the photos... i feel up to iso400 still acceptable for me.. hopefully with f/2.0 and IS.. can limit the majority of shots to iso400 n below.. :)

Oh yah, forgot to ask if the viewfinder is available? at what price?

thanks weekh. You contribution greatly appreciated.
I think it is ok up to 400 if printing 4R and smaller. Anything bigger max I'll go is 200.
