I have found a user site with full sized samples from the LX3, mostly using the yummy 16:9 aspect ratio.

I think the samples will give an idea of how this camera does in general photography, and even street photography all from an exprienced photographer pont of view. It does not however, show any high ISO shot afaik. For that ref, you should prolly reference weekh stuff.

Who else has bought the LX3?

Somehow the cam doesn't give me the excitement or x factor of a new cam.... doesn't give me much inspiration to take make pictures...
it is like using an old cam that I've owned... perhaps it is very similar to the previous models.....

Hi, would like to check if the cam is responsive? AF speed and shutter lag wise.

response wise it abt the same as the canon G9
tried out other thing also...Good news the hotshoe is compatible with the radio wireless trigger ...couple with it electronic shutter... i should be able tp trigger off my vivitar 285hv as far high as the radio trigger allowed(mine is rated 1/1000 sec) this is an ultimate lightweight strobist setup:thumbsup:

tried similar rf setup on nikon p5100 before and it doesn't work at all...

Let hope the optical viewfinder wun be too ex...

Panasonic accessories all pretty ex one.

i was playing with it at Best Denki at Plaza Singapura just now. Apparently the macro is really good and sharp. The quick major menu at the press and hold jogstick has much more to offer compare to LX2 which i currently own. However i realise the flickering of the screen during every focusing i made. Is that an error or i didn't set the setting correctly?:dunno:

are you on high-speed focusing?

Oh. i didn't check on that. Might be. But LX2 on high speed focusing didn't have this flickering issue if i remember.

Hello there. Sony user actually, but am really interested in the LX3.

I tried it out at Alan Photo just now. I think the reason maybe the shutter speed is too fast for the fluorescent lights. I had the same situation in AP just now where my shutter speed was 1/80 f/2.0 ISO 80. The camera might be refreshing too fast for the lights (60hz) hence the flicker.

Cheers

thanks bigdaystudio and saboramos. Guess I need to get down the shops and play around with it.

no need to think so hard... this camera is a must buy:thumbsup:

anyone waiting for Comex to get one?

The lx series never sold cheaply at any of the show so far

IQ is a little disappointing... as compared to the DSLR...
Will just use it as a p&s... don't think I'll be investing on the rest of the LX3 accessories....

You don't seen very thrill with it, and that is worrying.
Honestly, I hope it is just you. =P

I am going to get a "high-end" compact excluding the DP1 for it's price... and this is one of the compact I have short-listed, the other being a Ricoh GR Digital 2 which I already know have superb operations, great body and a... distinctive IQ.

What in your opinion, are the quirks of the LX3 if any?

Should I wait for Comex promo? Or should I just dash to the shop to get one now? Anyone knows how much Best Denki selling? Thanks....

Like what someone mentioned above, prices wouldn't drop a lot for Panasonic cameras. Furthermore, this *high-end* PnS camera just came out, so I figure they'll probably just throw more freebies. How many 2/4 GB SDHC cards do you intend to collect as freebies anyway? ;)

If i remember correctly. Best Denki at Plaza Singapura is selling at $799. Freebies include 4GB SD card (Don't what brand), 1 extra battery and 1 mini tripod (don't know brand also). So i don't know if other outlets are selling the same price or with the same freebies. Hope this helps.
