It's difficult as it's just a verbal agreement.

In my case, I was told LX3, $699 with OEM battery, screen protector and case, telephone quote.

I went to MScolor, the guy who served me told me that the promotion is over and have to pay $30 for the OEM battery. However, most of the CS members here have the $699 deal.

Last time I'm buying from MScolor, I've been buying from them for many years.

the following may be a shocking incident to some but no offense to any fans of MS Color or Panansonic - On Sun, I called Florence regarding the above incident.. she confidently told me bring my set to her shop and will do a 1-to-1 exchange if my set's condition is new and gd.
I went today evening.. met her.. checked my set..she said my set condition great. She asked for my customer portion of warranty card. I tot "lucky..she honoured her word..this issue settled easily and peacefully;)" She took her cordless phone went to a corner n made a call. Mins later, she came back tellin me..panasonic agent say cannot exchange..reason is cos i filled up my customer portion alrd. I tot.."ok, guess too late, she sent the service center portion to them and probably has my record in their database" I asked how? She say go to panasonic service center tom get it repaired... something I dun wan(will reveal later). I insist on 1-to-1 exchange which she agreed earlier on. She just tell me nt to worry, go there sure can settle.
She went in her office and came out with my other portion of warranty(the portion which she kept when I bought) to pass to me. I was shocked.. I looked at tt portion..nothing filled up,just scribbled w the cam serial no. She saw my angry look den tok **** say "Lucky u made the trip down so I can pass this other portion to u or else with just the customer portion, the service center wont entertain u also" My mind was screaming..."WTF? Y r u keeping this portion den if u didnt pass to Panasonic?" I controlled my temper but w a sour look I asked... "Y not u just b nice help me exchange here den just tear both portions of the warranty card and its gone.... for good!" She refused..say she cant sell my problem set anymore since warranty card already filled up...I tot she should just direct reject back to agent! keep asking me go down say sure no prob....sensing I was angry.. quickly pack my cam and accessories into box to see me off..

I walked out of MS..very angry. Went back and nicely asked for the agent's contact tt she spoke to earlier. She looked reluctant...I was damn black face and all her assistants lookin at us. She passed me a card, say look for Ryan. I walked off.. proceeded to call Ryan..identified myself as the customer Florence mentioned earlier on. I spoke in a stern tone..if the technicians certified this set faulty,I want 1-to-1 exchange as Florence agreed and not to send in for repairs. He paused den say bring down tom see how after his technician access my cam..Still tok **** say he stay tamp(near me)..can pass back to me as favor if i cant make it to collect. I ended the stupid call.

To me , this obviously is a case of Florence pushing me to Ryan den pushing me to technician. What warranty card hassle they making when warranty card nt even been sent but collecting dust in Florence 's office? If any frens of MS or Florence find this incident doubtful cause of their great repo, pls feel free call and ask Florence to confirm. I wont be sending this cam cause I noe if exchange 1-to-1, I will get a refurbished set. If repaired, hi chances are 1 prob leads to another and I will make freq trips there. I noe hw service center operates cause I have frens working such operations b4.

I will share this incident in other forums...not to cause malice to anyone's reputation but sharing as a consumer experience. Nothing above has been made up and everything said is nothing but the truth as happende ;(

its a matter of who you talk to and how you bargain.... also sometimes the sales staff can be very rigid and refuse to reduce...
then go back on a different day or take your business to another place.... :)
 

I've been buying most of my cameras at MSColor AMK for a few years already.

Fair enough if the promotion has ended, but reading the forum that the CS members are getting their LX3 at $699 with the gifts makes me angry.

Regular customer kena ketuk.

felt price ok so bought.... dun believe the story of promotion over or what.... they have enough profit margin to play around with....

then go back on a different day or take your business to another place.... :)

understand from CP that they do 1 for 1 exchange 4 any defects within 1 week of purchase, but was told not register or fill up the warranty during the 1st week.

MS should provide similar kind of service too. Almost wanted to get LX3 from ms last fri, but got D-LUX4 from john instead.

Great service from john although its a long wait due to fri evening crowd.
 

Hi fellows. Super-noob qn here: for those who need to post their warranty card themselves, just paste a stamp on the "outgoing" portion & dump into the post box ah? Dun need to put in an envelope ah? Leave that single piece exposed just mail like that?

yes if the stamp is paste on the outgoing portion then just send as it is without any envelope.
but if you kaisu, then send in an envelope loh.
 

i think alan photo is a great choice if you just test and pay up within half an hour cause some of the sales person a bit beng one and normally they are not very patient with fussy buyers.

but be sure to get an equote 1st before dropping by if not you might actually find that their verbal/on-the-phone quote is actually a bit higher than the email quote.

do you need to use filters to do long exposures during the day? i mean... everytime i try, it just gets totally exposed. im talkin white image. maybe with a few visable streaks of whatever... :confused:what do the filters do? do they just reduce the light comming through? couldnt i turn down the ISO from say 400, which is what i normally shoot at, to 100? i think that makes it darker... or would 800 and up make it darker? if i turn the ISO down, aswell as set the aperature high, like... f22 or something, would that create better results aswell??

A Neutral Density filter is used for the scenario you mentioned (Long exposures in the day).

The higher the ISO, the more sensitive your camera's sensor, thus producing brighter but noisier images.

Yes, setting to high aperture (in the LX3's case, ƒ8 is the highest) and low ISO would be the way to go.

hi guys, have a noob question. Looking to get a few filters for the lx3. judging from the lx3, recommended to get 46mm filters or get the step up adapter from 46mm to 52mm and get 52mm filters? will the 52mm affect the images? otherwise, any other recommendations? thanks in advance.
 

hi guys, i just bought LX3 only. first time in touch with raw files, so need some help here.

1. is there any plugin i can use to view the .rw2 files directly in file explorer? MS only has plugins for dng and a few other raw formats. i'm now using adobe bridge to open the files. how to set it to open directly with camera raw and also view the thumbnails in explorer?

2. How do i turn off the auto snapshot for video taking? it's redundant to me =/

3. is there any way to change the audio quality? it sounds muffled to me, compared to my 4year old sony dsc-w1 and 2yr old ixus800is.
(read the manual already, don't think got chance to change.. :( )

4. what monitor callibration s/w do u guys use to standardize the look from capture to print? seems like a lot of ppl need to do exposure compensation because of the lcd inaccuracy.

now i'm re-reading the operating instructions ( they actually saved paper for the advanced instructions and put it on .pdf? ) and the whole of this thread. hope i can find out more about this wonderful cam..

okay, just finished flipping thru' 22pages of this thread.

found out the codec is not out yet for windows XP, cannot view .rw2 files directly. sigh.

anyway, what's the purpose of saving in DNG rather than tiff? aren't both of them loseless formats? another thing is if i save in .psd, there shouldn't be any compression involved right?

another prob i encountered was converting the video to h.264 in avi container, with mp3 audio. it was converted, but the audio was gone for some reason. anyone knows why?

I highlighted about the warranty card thingy on the other thread. kennmail, how long have you got your LX-3 from them? 1 weeks? I really wonder why is the warranty card still with them? Did they pass my warranty card to Panasonic? When I purchased that time, she told me the Panasonic guy will drop by the next day to collect all the warranty cards. So now I wonder is my LX-3 officially under Panasonic's warranty or not? I still don't know why MS Colour demands customer to fill up the customer's portion ( though they claimed is for accounting the free gifts which I think is total bull ****! and now we have one CS buddy's warranty card still not send out) I am pissed off with this kind of fishy practice!

They better clarify my doubt else that is the last time me buying from MS Colour. I am looking at the Canon SX1 IS, wants to head down to Cathay or TK photo to test out the cam.
