Since LX2, there was no support to view RW2.

okay, just finished flipping thru' 22pages of this thread.

found out the codec is not out yet for windows XP, cannot view .rw2 files directly. sigh.

anyway, what's the purpose of saving in DNG rather than tiff? aren't both of them loseless formats? another thing is if i save in .psd, there shouldn't be any compression involved right?

another prob i encountered was converting the video to h.264 in avi container, with mp3 audio. it was converted, but the audio was gone for some reason. anyone knows why?

I highlighted about the warranty card thingy on the other thread. kennmail, how long have you got your LX-3 from them? 1 weeks? I really wonder why is the warranty card still with them? Did they pass my warranty card to Panasonic? When I purchased that time, she told me the Panasonic guy will drop by the next day to collect all the warranty cards. So now I wonder is my LX-3 officially under Panasonic's warranty or not? I still don't know why MS Colour demands customer to fill up the customer's portion ( though they claimed is for accounting the free gifts which I think is total bull ****! and now we have one CS buddy's warranty card still not send out) I am pissed off with this kind of fishy practice!

They better clarify my doubt else that is the last time me buying from MS Colour. I am looking at the Canon SX1 IS, wants to head down to Cathay or TK photo to test out the cam.

Its been more den a week but less den a mth. I did mentioned the purchased period on the phone to Florence but she still said can exchange. My "to be mailed" portion of warranty card is with me now...Its only scribbed with e cam serial no., nothing more. I planning to leave things as it is:flush:...sg has very poor laws to protect consumer rights. I merely shared the incident as I believe many bros gt their LX3 from MS(think its the most recommended shop) as read in the "Best Deals for LX3" thread. Even if u try clarifying,i think they will make up alot **** and bull stories to get rid of u :complain:

hi all,

i am a new user of Lx3 bought from MScolor for 699 - 4gb sdhc card, case, extra batt, and screen protector, last friday.

previously, i have owned (in sequence) G7, 350D, Ricoh GX 200, Fuji (lousiest cannot remember model), 40d with L lens, 450D, G10 and now Lx3...
in fact just sold G10 away...
I am d*rned impresses with Lx3 output! freaking GOOD! G10 is a few miles apart...
G10 pictures are never sharp, now that I compared with Lx3! color is excellent! dynamic range is impressive!

of all the above - i have only enjoyed 40D, Ricoh and now Lx3!
40D is too heavy for my usage, i want to travel light with family, and dont want carry a heavy load...Ricoh is good but lagging...
Lx3 is the answer to my needs! except for lens cover (troublesome!)
everything else is almost perfect! movie recording is in HD..and it does come in handy if want to capture some snap shot movies...

when i read about this Lx 3 thread, saying that Lx3 fare better than G10...i didnt believe...
but after using it...seeing is believing....

699 is worth every penny! i paid 830 for G10 and 100 for sunpak flash...i only manage to sell 500 for it....

Sh*T..should have just got Lx 3 to save the agony...i missed precious shots of recent travel....

LX 3 :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

hi all, just a question. is there any function that allows the lx3 to only choose one colour to display in a photo e.g red and the rest in b&w? thanks

Since LX2, there was no support to view RW2.

okay.. that's bad.

anyway, aren't u guys disturbed by barrel distortion? esp. when it's 24mm. most of the group shots i take have flat faces at the sides, even though it's like 15% from the edges. this plus raw files.. hell lot of PP to do compared to a basic PnS. haha.

btw, do u guys buy silica gel ( where to buy, and izit cheap? ) and store it nicely? and for cleaning lens, can i use the cloth for cleaning specs instead? some of my friends duno how to handle the camera then keep touching my lens.. leave alot of fingerprints.. argh!

this is also the 1st time i shoot almost 90% of the times in 16:9. what do i do if i wanna send it for photo printing? have to re-crop to 3:2? or do the photo labs offer any photo paper that's 16:9 aspect instead?

Hi Savager, same as you, I do notice significant barrel distortion at 24mm wide. In dpreview it is stated only 6% distortion at 24mm wide. From naked eye, I think the distortion is definitely more.

i would like to experiment on taking panoramic shots using the stiching method, I would like to seek advise on those who had done it

do you use maximum 24mm or more in view of the barrel distortion issue?
overlap of more than 50% ?
any other advise?

I noticed quite a significant amt of dust particles on the inner side of my lens unit when I held the lens up to a strong light to inspect.

1. is this normal?
2. How did they get there in e 1st place?
3. Will they affect the image in any way, more so since they're inside?
4. How to remove them?

I'm positive they're inside as I'd already gently cleansed the outer side of the lens using the blower+then+lenspen procedure. Pls assist.

yes definitely. my friends' faces all look damn flat at the sides.. for now i'll just use PS to batch correct all my pictures. sigh.. any other way around this?

Hi Savager, no idea how to get around it. In group photo, the persons standing at both edges would look awefully distortly fat. I used Lumix FX01 before but I don't notice it has this problem at wide angle. Is my LX3 a bad copy? I just got it few days ago.

Help~~~~anybody?

no la, it's not bad. it's just a common occurence in wide-angle lens - the same will happen for DSLRs also. just finding a way to correct it without cropping out too much of my already fine-tuned framing.

I have the LX3 adaptor for 52mm, but want to trade for the 46mm one, anyone like to trade? Please PM me if you like to trade, location around Jurong East.

I don't think many specks is normal. A few wouldn't be unusual though. I don't think they would affect most pictures unless shooting into the light maybe? Maybe you could get it checked under warranty?

besides martin fields are there any screen protector made specific for lx-3 ?

I read somewhere someone suggested cutting your own from a big piece from Daiso. But not sure what sort of gum or plastic is used, or whether it matters.

Do I take e camera to the Panasonic building ard Redhill MRT area?
Doesn't the warranty card have the info? Maybe you can phone them to ask first? Instead of wasting a trip.
