Still remember the good old days... 1x fm2 & 1xEM, 35mm & 50mm lens only, 1 mounted on each body, 10 rolls of ASA400 + 1 roll spare and a 45-ct1 flashgun... Deliverables = 300pcs 3Rs + negatives in a long plastics bags tube and all these for ~$450/day.
No complains, no albums, no photo sorting, no post-processing, no pimples removal, etc ... And all prints from Standard Kodak Labs or Fuji Labs. If comes with free albums from the labs, give to the couples also.
Who comes from this era of wedding photography business? :bsmilie: :bsmilie:
inside is a roll of fujifilm![]()
sorry, may i know why most of the PRO i see are using canon 5d? :embrass:
Every few months, I have heard the same things happened again and again. Somehow, its always the 'friend of the couple', 'sister of the couple' but never the couples. If the TS never name anyone or post any photos, somehow every photographers get dragged in the mud just because someone's friends(never the couples themselves) make the biggest noise always fails to hold someone responsible. Everytime, we clean ourselves up, another nameless complains soiled again........
This way, the blamed can never clear his/her name.
I notice that in 'blaming' threads similar to this, the TS will always disappear when told to give names, show pictures, or give proof. Wonder why like that :dunno:
Really?Sounds like a case of Big Camera Envy!
Film is colour or black and white?
It's up to the couple to find a suitable photographer for the type of shots they want. Since the TS has mentioned that they paid quite a bit of money, they should have spent the time to see if the photographer is competent in what they want...
I sucks at indoor shoots so for my couz's wedding next month, I told her that I'll only be the "spare" photographer.
Don't want to spoil one's wedding.
I ask her to hire a paid photographer as I don't really think I can take good shots of the wedding. :embrass:
I personally find that checking at photographers "portfolio" is totally useless...
For example, if a photographer attend studio shoots to obtain various portfolios, eveything has been setup nicely, nice makeup, light, beautiful gals, there is not way, the picture will turn out bad... Then he claims he is pro to mislead pple.
And also what makes you think that this is his real portfolio, these pictures can be taken by 1 person and they sharing the same portfolio to multiple pple.... I believe there are pple who practices these habits.
I believe its very important to interview the photographers personally to know his charactristic before engage his service.
Talking from commercial perpective, I came across a few pros wannabe came to rock the boat of a project with ridiculous quotation that sufficient only for a poly grads monthly expenditure....it's bad as management always use these as tools to press the bonafide supplier.....on one hand they want the service and quality of pros....on the other hand they treatern with non pros payout......due to market conditions....it seems like they have upper hand...put myself into their shoe (btw I am the buyer....not the service provider)....they have a company to run, they have fix amount of mouths to feed....U can imagine how one look when the ball is being squeezed......it's no longer a level playing game....if one concern only about surviving, I honesly thing he will have limited time to think creative and improving on his work  So it's a sad development imo.
IIRC, all your good friends are so unfortunate, all the professional photographers they engaged for their wedding day are all bonkers, can even take some decent photos, even those are suppose to be the highly reputable in the industry, (AFAIK, WPJA don't anyhow accept Tom, Dick, Harry as members).
Maybe you should consider help your friends to source for reliable wedding day photographers, if worst come worst, you can even help to take their wedding photos, not to let any others of your friends encounter such misfortune again, isn't it what friends are for?
Yes, I would like to see the samples, in the worst case it could be shot by me.... :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:What you talking about man. ALL??? Since when did I mention it's ALL? Why be so defensive?
You know you are in a very competitive business, and as someone in another post blatantly says, it is a s*** profession. There are some pros which are good, but many who claim they are but actually they are not. It is the latter that we are bringing up this issue. And I don't see the industry improving here given there is a lot of supply and Singapore is small.
Whether you are a full-time pro or not, you can't deny it will somehow affect your business. And it is certainly of concern to people like you. If you think you are satisfied earning $x a month, let me tell you mister, you could have earned $x + ____ if not for those wannabe spoiling your business, and indeed, the reputation of "wedding photographer" in Singapore.
Why is it that we are simply mentioning friends? Cos it's a lot easier. So what you want the bride/groom to do? Display all their images with them inside, say "These images are taken by XXX photographer and see how bad they look?" What are the repercussions involved? Will the couple be blacklisted? Yes, the wedding's over but Singapore is small. You want them to experience bad blood elsewhere? How about the photographer? You think it's ok to black-list him like that? If so, maybe clubsnap should have a section "Wedding photographers to avoid".
If you really insist, I can ask my buddy to meet up with you one-on-one (provided he agrees)and you be the judge. Just PM me your contact details and when it is convenient to meet up.
Then you post here and tell others if the images are bad or not. Convince him to give you the photographer's name and you put it down here and tell others what you personally think of the standard. Sure, you can say that's not your business, but if that's to prove the issue here is no nonsense, why not do it?
