CARRA: `WE MUST QUALIFY`
Jamie Carragher says Liverpool must now 'make sure' that they are in the Champions League next season.
The Reds recorded a fantastic 2-0 victory over Inter Milan on Tuesday night but are in danger of not qualifying for next year's competition as they sit three points behind fourth-placed Everton.
Liverpool once again proved to be a different team when playing in European competition, but must now reproduce that performance against Middlesbrough this weekend.
"We realise that we've now got three or four league games before the second leg in Milan and we're going to have to make sure that we are in this competition next season," said Carragher.
"There's something about us when we play in Europe but we've got a job to do in the Premiership and we have to make sure we don't lose sight of that."
Carragher also paid tribute to the fans, suggesting that they helped to 'rattle' Inter early in the match.
"We've always had special European nights and this was another one," he said.
"We always try and make a good start in European games at home, get in people's faces and set a high tempo and the crowd play a big part in that.
"I think we rattled Inter Milan in the first 15-20 minutes and the crowd played as big a part in that as anyone.
"I'm running out of things to say about the fans but they proved once again that they're the best in Europe."
Meanhile, Inter coach Roberto Mancini was 'greeted' on his return to Italy by 2000 fans who protested about his tactics at Anfield. They chanted 'Go to work' at the boss who is on the verge of winning Serie A.
