what's wrong with people these days. the guy has 2 years left on his contract. not 2 days, not 2 weeks, not even 2 months but years! how the hell can someone hold a club to ransom like that. don't you think there is something very wrong with the whole idea? it's like, i know i have 2 years tied to this club but i want more money now and if you don't give it to me, i wanna leave. or what? or play like crap? refuse to play? they dare call themselves "professional" players?

if i have 2 days left on my job, i jolly well work to the best of my ability. it's called responsibility.

sorry for raving but i'm pissed at the gall of this big-headed lad who is contracted to the club for 2 more years but actually had the temerity to blame the club for not rushing to extend his contract and give him more money.

did you read this one on the media watch section?

"REDS FEAR GERRARD WILL QUIT ANFIELD
Liverpool Echo 05 July 2005
..............In a baffling twist, Gerrard has confided to friends he desperately wants to stay at Anfield but he's concerned the club won't be strong enough to compete for honours next season.

He is also worried that by signing a deal reportedly worth £100,000 a week, he will swallow up most of Rafa Benitez's transfer kitty and the club won't be challenging for the Premiership................."

two questions, you worry about swallowing the transfer kitty, why ask for the pay? it's not like he's paid peanuts now is he?

secondly, if you wanna win honours and worry the club isn't up for it, say it and ask to go. it would hurt but i would salute his guts and honesty. but why drag on and wait for the contract offer? looks to me like it's the $$$ that are talking louder.

sigh, he was my hero and he is still great on the pitch. but like maradona, he's proving to be nothing but a selfish jerk off the pitch.

there's Matthew Le Tissier and Steve Bull(Wolverhampton, from long ago) etc etc. who are loyal sevants to their clubs.

now Stevie G is acting like a spoilt brat and a sad L for Love, may i add! :thumbsd:

i just hopes he goes to Real and not chelski!
And with the money we get for him...buy the players you need Benitez and make those who left us regret! ;(

Just like Owen....after he left, we won the CL. Now after SG left, we take the EPL and he win nothing..........hehehe..let he bang like Owen.. :mad2:

i'll be changing my wallpaper the day he leave Liverpool.
yes..I still have the wallpaper that he was having a fist in the air and the oher hand holding the trophy.

He wanted to leave unless he see some improvement on the squad. So we bought in some good players(of course some loussy also). And we won Champion league.

We had asked him to sign 3 times during the years..he asked us to wait.

He wanted an improved contract..we give him more..

and now he said he wanted to leave.

Don;t u feel very piss off ???

ok....calm donw. now Rick Perry has to sort out the best buyer for him, may be at 35m

Rafa had to think about a playmaker to replace gerrard. May be we can buy

1) a striker for 8m+Dudek
2) Aimar for 10m(Playmaker)
3) Milto 5m (CD)
4) LM 4m
5) still have 8m left...

may be 3-4 frindge players...or declare dividend to LFC shareholder...

Was watching stevie's heroics last season.. the way he kissed his badge after he scores, the way he rouses the team, the spectacular goals he scored, it must have been years since I idolised someone (last being ian rush) ... now its just sad that he actually wants to leave. Im still silently hoping for a twist in the tale, but then again, if he expressed his desire to leave, why keep him? Come out and clear the air, SG!

But I will hope on, till then, my wallpaper stays the same...

i can't help but feel cheated by Stevie G. but such is the way of life in the EPL nowadays with evil agents feeding nonsensical and totally 'money-grabbing' proposal for their 'clients'(or rather, carrot-head).

we all know that such agents get a small slice of the pie(say, 1% of the whole transfer deal, oh com'on! we all know that its more likely 10% or even 20%!).

so, we've signed some new players and the club and the gaffer has perhaps delivered their claims that the squad will be improved and strengthened. perhaps this season we might be good enough to push for the title now that the team's stabilized and having won the CL Cup(!). so, the club get pushed around by Stevie G and agent, and hey presto, now's the time to sit down and talk and look, suddenly Liverpool F.C's made to look like the wrong party and the one straw that broke the camel's back!! very disgusted with this act. can't help too but feel that Stevie G and agent has this planned long ago!

£100k per week is no joke to a club like Liverpool, perhaps the club's a'lil late in coming up with the right offer, but hey, what's our 'little lateness' compared to Stevie G's 'wait X 3'?. even 'that' player, Owen, do not earn that much warming the cosy bench of Real Madrid. and look, he left the club and only watch and look on as we lift the Champions' League Cup, something that he might never ever get to do so as a player even with the club of Real Madrid's calibre! :bsmilie:

Stevie G will bear the brunt of Liverpool supporters' anguish and flames. the club has delivered its part of the bargain and now, Stevie G seemingly took us all for a joyride and left us all high and dry. he'll do well to wise up and reject any approach from man utd or even arsenal(i doubt they can afford him! haha!). only that chelski has the ££ now. not moving for anything less than £40million!

wonder who the club will be able to lure and attract now, even with so much ££ in the kitty! he's left us all in a limbo!!!!!!

The only "decent" thing left that he can do now is to make sure that if he leaves, it better not be to another english club, that's the least he could do now to show some respect for Liverpool.

The things is with the CL deadline so near, and the $$ in the kitty, every club knows that they can hold Liverpool to a ransom over every single player they'll be trying to buy now, so in effect, we're getting much lesser for SG than before, he's really screwed Liverpool worst than Owen last season...

precisely! Liverpool's in a bigger limbo than 'that' time when 'that' player left us(besides with only a miserable £8million, we won't be able to sign anyone decent enough!).

a strong and good midfielder is very hard to replace much less one of the calibre of Stevie G!

let's hope John Welsh can develop into a really decent player and perhaps, just perhaps, ease our heartache that little bit more...

this feeling is worse than when mickey mouse left last year...
Not really... i feel that Gerrard left because deep in his minds and our minds that Liverpool is not good enough. We are 37pts behind Chelsea in EPL....

Yes, we are CL champs last year but look at Porto, the CL champs for 2004, what have they done? They have dismantled the whole team....

so.. Wong Se.... is the bet on ?

Thats the spirits man! We'll never walk alone.....

yes...1:50 for Liverpool to win EPL coming season.

Wonder if Gerrard go to Chelsea..and team with Lampard.

Can attack, can defend...I wonder if we meet Chelsea, how baros can Cisse and break them donw..with Gerrard cover every area to impress the new boss..

okie that will be one mug of beer.. if Liverpool win.. i guess we will have enough beer for everyone here.. :D

I beg to differ... Owen left us when we ahve absolutely no choice and we cannot even field him in for CL qualifier... Imagine what will happen if we lost the qualifier? Will be still be CL Champs?

Also, Owen was sold for pittance... 8m pound for no. 1 striker in England? Oh please, even Crouch is asking for 10m and so is Andrew Johnson.... YOu dun see Real snapping them up, do you?

FOr Gerrard, we can still force him to play... he has 2 years to go and we can make sure he stays for this year before selling him next year. We can negotiate for the max we can get. As for signing players, except for those under discussion, like Kuyt and Upson etc as rumoured, no need to splash out the dole now. In CM, we still have Hamann and Alonso that does the job so well when Gerrard was suspended/injured in CL.

We can always buy the reinforcement in Jan...

no point keeping a player whose heart is already somewhere else. he won't give 100%
If he stays for another season we won't be able to get as much as now. Other clubs will want to buy him cheap. We have to sell or rish losing him for nothing when his contract runs out.

maybe he's going to chelski. He did help them win the worthless cup last season.

By the end of next year, He will only have 1 more year left, then its a case of sell or lose him for free on Bosman. If he's really determine to leave, Liverpool will get even less then as the clubs know that they have nothing to lose by waiting 1 more yr and get him for $0.

No doubt Hamann and Alonso are adequate cover, but what happens when either 1 or touch wood, both are out long term due to injuries like what happened this year. No to mentioned the fact that we're facing a killer season with so many matches to play. There must be enough players to rotate around, or all the players will be running on fumes towards the end of the season. Look at what happened last season when we had so many injuries and not enough players to go around.

we have Darren Potter.. and most notably John Welsh coming through the ranks.

i hope they mature and develop enough in time to somehow fill in the over-sized boots of Stevie G.

it's a tough day at work goin through the NEWPAPER. :(

'Where is the loyalty?' ask Reds fans.
