Man U is the no. 1 club in the world (yes, as much as i hated it)

No 1 in terms of market share and profit. I agree. but that is not the case anymore this year..It is a non listed company, no market share. And with Chelsea rising...and limitation on MU from this year onwards...I am doubt MU can still go as strong as the period from 1995-2005.

But if u said No1 in terms of football success..then I totally/completely/angrily disagree.

They had won less English tittle, league Cup, European Champion than Liverpool. and they have no UEFA Cup nor they had won World Club Cup..

I can;t figure out why they are No 1.

I dun agree. I think Stelios will be a good signing as he can plays on the wings and as a temp striker. Dun forget that he's a key member of the 2004 Euro champs.

If you look at the no. of appearances he made as a sub, you will be quite surprise that he scored 8 goals for Bolton in 38 total appearances taking into account that Bolton is a 1goal/match type of team.... It's a very respectable goal ratio.

It is hard to define (since no fix defination) whether it is a flop buy for him...since he is playing as Midfielder....even Pelle played so ****..but the they are some who think he was not that bad..

nonetheless...I would not say that he will be a flop. SInce he is 1m..u dun expect much from him....

But I will think that he will be mostly likely a below average player for Liverpool if he does join us. At the standard like Cheyrou...

I know he did not play much for his country...he walked out from the camp and refused to apologize and get back to national squad.

but Liverpool did not say that the club released him because he could not get WP.

on what basis we get to learn that "oh...he can';t get WP..so Liverpool can;t keep him anymore..Must release him."

I think WP could be just one the factors. As for Stelios, I would be looking forward to see how he compares with Biscan. Still waiting for arrival of big names...

Reason why liverpool prob did not explain the WP issue is because his contract expired already so no need to explain since not reapplying. Imagine if it's Hamann, to sign an extension, they will need to apply for the WP and thus explain and wait for a decision.

As for Man U being no.1 club, i am referring to revenue. they are still the highest in terms of revenue and operating profit (if i am not wrong).

As for Stelios vs Biscan, they are too different to be compared anyway.

cheyrou on 1 yr loan to bordeaux with view of permanent move
seems like bolo will sign? he becomes a free agent this friday

I still think that it is an assumption.

yes..in terms of market share and profit...MU is no 1.

If u are to judge a business..MU is very successful and no 1.
But if are to judge a club based on the award/tittle, they are no where near no 1. [/QUOTE]

agree. their style are totally different. Biscan is defensive where Stelios is more attacking and less defensive.

According to BBC's report,

He was fined twice.

1st fine = £90,000 (2 weeks wages)
2nd fine = £90,000 (2 weeks wages)
Total fine = £180,000

£180,000 X 3.2 = Approx $576,000

All in a space of 2 days. Worst than kenna sued! :sweatsm:

But I read that he earns 45k a week. So it is 180k for saying that the manager
is acting like a child and commenting that the club would be relegated under his charge.

Attched is the news....

19:26 29Jun2005 RTRS-Soccer-Robert fined second time in 24 hours over Souness blasts

LONDON, June 29 (Reuters) - Newcastle United have fined French forward Laurent Robert two weeks wages for the second time in 24 hours after outspoken comments about manager Graeme Souness in the British media, the club announced on Wednesday.
"He was warned not to do it and he must suffer the consequences," United chairman Freddy Shepherd told the club's website.
"We have also reported him to the Football Association and we are seeking guidance from them on any further action they may wish to take."
Robert has signed for United's Premier League rivals Portsmouth but does not officially join them until Friday.
In Wednesday's Sun tabloid, Robert said that England midfielder Jermaine Jenas would soon be leaving the club because of Souness's alleged heavy-handed treatment of him.
On Tuesday, Robert, 30, had described Souness as "acting like a child" and predicted the club would be relegated under his charge.
Robert is reportedly earning 45,000 pounds ($82,000) a week.
