LFC II - You'll never Walk Alone

Why cant they award one more place to England? The Champions deserves an automatic place. It's the Champions League isnt it? Surely the defending champion deserves more right than any other 2nd 3rd 4th placed team in the league. They are not even Champions at all. ...

If UEFA decide to not award an additional place for England, I hope the FA better wake up their ideas and let LFC go instead of Everton.

traore - renew contract
after a dramatic improvement...of course now he deserved to be liverpool player..although he is still just a slightly above average quality. I dun blame him for being caught several occasion in the CL final by Shevo. I wonder even maldini can keep shevo in total control. but his own goal in the FA CUp this season is the best blunder I could ever seen.

No lah, Djimi Traore should go lah. The fella has no tactical sense at all.

Not dumping him now would ultimately bite LFC in the backside down the road.

i share the same view with u on traore over the last 3 seasons. sometimes u just have to close your eye with he kick the ball..because u dun have any idea where the ball would end with...

when he receive the pass...u can see his leg is shaking. not sure he is afraid or it is his style.

but I change my view after this season that he had demonstrated that He can actually improve. and he made couple of good games compared to he never had any good game in the last 3 years.

nonethelss....Finnan, Carra, Hyypia and Traore are the line up that brought liverpool to CL. may keep this formation unless there is another good left back available in the transfer market..ie Michael Bridge from CHelsea.

everton can go for all i care. their participation is perhaps, worthy.
but how far they can go in the competition, that's another thing altogether.

i'm only too happy to see Liverpool lifting the cup for a 5th time on the 50th c.l final although we ended up being 5th in the EPL(check out today's NEWPAPER!). anything more is truthfully, a bonus!!!

Stevie G sign the contract!!!

Sh**ttt!!!

Liverpool could lose the chance to play in Champs League next year..
All bcos of stupid FA England try to play politics..

Just follow the rule book, and let Liverpool play in CL instead of Everton..

"Section I, Article 1.03 of the Champions League rule book states: “At the request of the national association concerned, the Uefa Champions League title-holders may be entered for this competition as an additional representative of that association, if they have not qualified for the Uefa Champions League via the top domestic league championship. If, in such a case, the title-holders come from an association entitled to enter four teams for the Uefa Champions League, the fourth-placed club in the top domestic league championship has to be entered for the Uefa Cup.”

The rules are clear here. The FA can enter Liverpool as defending champions, but only at the expense of the fourth-placed team, Everton.

Use common sense laah...... why u ask someone who has successfully reached only Gunung Kinabalu to climb Mount Everest next year, at the expense of someone that has REACHED the top of Everest this year?

Best achievement this season for Liverpool is to be the Champion of Europe.
Best achievement this season for Everton is to be 4th placed in EPL...

FA of England should stop politicking and try to get 5 teams into the CL.
Just let the more deserving team to go into next year CL!
Already knew abt this all along... Thats how Real Madrid got into CL at expense of Real Zaragoza a few years back? Thats the arguement from Uefa...

However, what liverpool is agrueing is that their rule also states that should any of the 49 countries other than England, Italy or Spain (all have 4 spots) win, they will get an additional spot. Hence, it's unfair to these 3 countries. Clearly, you can see the support is mainly from these 3 countries anyway.

Also, the G14 clubs are also from these 3 countries, thats how they got the expansion (so each one can compete in CL annually). Now, they tries to HELP liverpool but effectively also help their own agenda as maybe next year Inter or AC win but finish 5th how? They have threatened to form a superleague b4 and i think Uefa will concede again....

Current Liverpool Player

1) gerrad - renew contract
Captain of European Champion, who does not want thim ? Hope he sign and stay until 2010. Agreed, hopefully he does stays... which i think is likely if we offer him 100,000pounds/week

2) jamie - renew contract
Longest serving liverpool player in the current sqaud. Player of the season for LFC..He should stay for LFC for his entire playing career. Agreed, he will be like Maldini to us in terms of service... 1 club all his life, like giggs also.

3) hamman - renew contract
 After his performance when he was sub into 2nd half in the final, all the fans can now see how effective the unsung hero is. Well, i have all along said hamann is the KEY player. Liverpool always play well when he plays. I think he will stay next year and prob move back to Germany either the following year (option included in new contract) or the next.

4) traore - renew contract
after a dramatic improvement...of course now he deserved to be liverpool player..although he is still just a slightly above average quality. I dun blame him for being caught several occasion in the CL final by Shevo. I wonder even maldini can keep shevo in total control. but his own goal in the FA CUp this season is the best blunder I could ever seen. He has improved and proved himself. However, i think he may not be such a good player for 1st 11. Wayne bridge is an option since Chelsea is signing Kahlaze

5) Baros to Valencai ? Lyon ?
Pls go. After half a season gone, he still mourn for missing a chance to join Baca..Not loyalty at all. We dun need this kind of player. Quite sure he will move. In fact, i hope he moves as well.

6) Pelle - offload
We should not have signed him at all. May be ask MU to take him and pay MU 2m as to sabotage MU. Which ever EPL team have Pelle in their games...that team will concede goals. Signing him has always been a short term solution. At 33, he's more as a stop-gap.

7) Smicer - offload
Thanks scoring the 2nd goal for us. But his prime time had gone..I hope he stays in EPL. I think Smicer and Berger are classy players that was hampered by injuries.

8) Kirkland - to WBA
We have Scot Carsson now...who is younger and sit on the bench more than sick bay. If we sign Reina, he's gone..

9) Dudek - to ??
U are hero for us. But again...his prime had gone. He has to make way for he new keeper. According to rumour, he will be traded to Feyenoord, his old club for Dirk kiltjit

10) Kewell - ????
I would like him to go...He never showed his quality that shown in Leeds. And I believe his prime had gone. He earned as the 9th highest paid player in EPL 2004/2005. but his quality and his appearance (no of match playing) do not even justify him as the 19th highest paid. Let alone we still have to folk out for several sugery medical bills for him. Kewell... he's a wild card. If he's fit, he's as good as giggs in his prime. I think he will stay.

Potential Incoming Liverpool Player
1) O;Shea
I dun mind...may be at 2m. Could not be at 6m. It is day light robbery at 6m. agree..6m is a lot of dough...

2) Riena
at 22. Good buy. wonder how much he would cost us ? Prob 3-5m plus dudek

3) Aimar
only for 10m ? it can not be so cheap..I dun mind to pay 10m + Diao + Josemi to exchange for AIMAR. 10m is reasonable as he lost his place under ranieri...

4) Milto
Yes..we need another CB to cover for Carra and Hyypia. but strong competition from madrid and other club as well. It will be a good signing.

5) Owen.....Hargreaves
cost around 2-3m. Good player. at 24. Good back up for Riise. If we are to offlaod kewell..we need another LM. I am sceptical abt hargreaves. He doesn't impress me. If i want a midfielder, i'll go for malbranque.

6) Zenden
No way..he is past his prime.Past his prime? I dun think so, he's 28? and dun forget just won player for the year for Boro....

7) Teenager Roque.
Definately yes.. buy him and keep him and train him for 3 years. by 2008..when the home grown talent rule take place..he will fit the bill.
If Rafa can train un Biscan and Traore..I believe Rafa would turn Roque into a real good player after 2-3 years.Teenage talents are risky business.. I just hope Sinama and La Tallec fulfilled their potentials...

8) Josemi
Really like to see him leaving..he is Pelle No 2. haha... he does deserve it...

9) Nunez
Keep him to exchange + cash (5m) for Owen. :bsmilie: I think nunez is good player. He's a good traditional winger. Prob with him is he's too weak for EPL. If he's injury-free and keep up with the toughness of the league.. he will be good.. just like Garcia...

10) Striker ??
We definately need another striker...Likely to be Dirk..maybe Andy Johnson but i rather sign Couch then Johnson![/QUOTE]

Kewell... he's a wild card. If he's fit, he's as good as giggs in his prime. I think he will stay.

actually the 1st he had with us..not bad. Scored around 10 goals.

but he never seems fit since last season until now ..still going for another operation.

Whilst William Gallas is not a dedicated left back, I think he's worth buying to replace Traore. He did damn well for Chelsea last season in the left back position. Makes a good cover for Hypia and Carragher as well since he's actually more of a center back. If LFC continues to play 3 across at the back, Gallas is ideal.

agree. i did not mention him becoz it is more a realistic chance to approach for Bridge rather than Gallas...

Gallas is playing more 1st team football with Chelsea..dun think Chelsea will release him...

it is said that rafa is preparing a £6million bid for Real Zaragoza's Gabriel Milito as a potential Centre Back.
now, who's this guy?

and that Dirk watever striker...

Actually Gallas is upset that he's not actually being played in the correct position. I keep hearing that he says he wants to leave. He's basically covering for whoever plays on the Chelsea left back position who is injured - don't ask me who cause I can't remember.

Milito is a regular in Argentina national team. 2 years ago, he's almost signed for real madrid but they back out last min as he injured his knees. He went on and becomes one of the best centre-half in Spanish la liga...while RM empty-handed after throwing wads of money for Walter Samuel as well as 15m pound for a crooked Woodgate, who has yet to play a game for them!! What outstanding value is that?

As for Gallas, not likely he will sign to play as cover. If he signs, he will prob demand not to play LB unless the regular LB is injured. It is unlikely he will play 2nd fiddle to Hyypia. Of course, i think Milito will prob rank ahead of Hyypia in Rafa's books...

i understand where u come from. u may be Liverpool fans..but not die hard Liverpool fans.

When u watch a live telecast match between Liverpool vs Everton, u won't jump over the table to scream like gorilla when Liverpool score the winning goal at injujry time....

As said earlier and quoted also from rafa..."use common sense".

liverpool fan or not..u have to be objective towards the subject matter..
wat if..next year liverpool finish 4th..n everton/arsenal/chelsea/man utd win the champs league n finish 5th..will u be saying the same thing??

the rules at the start of the season was simple..finish in top 4..n u will be in the champs league..wat ibitemynails said is rite..everton played above themselves whole season n deservedly finish 4th..so they should be in the champs league..whether they get past the qualifiers anot is another matter n should not be..the matter is that they deserve to be in the 3rd qualifying round..

i am oso a liverpool fan..of coz i oso hope liverpool to defend the champs league next year..but let's just put it tis way..it's not the end of the world even if the english fa/uefa deny liverpool the chance to defend the champs league..can concentrate on the league..n make sure we qualify for the champs league without any controversey..n get the 6th champs league to equal with milan

final words..i do think uefa will allow liverpool into the champs league though..but then again..mi a pool fan..so i may be biased

what if everton go to CL..and half way through the club file for bankcruptcy and could not continue operation ? What If Liverpool take over Everton and merge 2 into one ? What if ..how could I answer....

the rules at the start of the season was simple..finish in top 4..n u will be in the champs league

before the starts of the season....the rule of UEFA is simple..."“At the request of the national association concerned, the Uefa Champions League title-holders may be entered for this competition as an additional representative of that association, if they have not qualified for the Uefa Champions League via the top domestic league championship. If, in such a case, the title-holders come from an association entitled to enter four teams for the Uefa Champions League, the fourth-placed club in the top domestic league championship has to be entered for the Uefa Cup.”

If one follow blindly what the rule say..might as well there is no rule at all. The authority has to constantly reivew the rule to make sense.

Just look at World Cup....FIFA is also constantly changing the rule. ie..Champion of Oceanic play against 5th place of South America Group, Asutralia vs Argentina to qualify for world cup 1994. Then later change to a play off with the Asia Group. Australia vs Iran to qualify for world cup 1998. Then later they change it back to play against the 5th place of South America Group. Australia vs Uruguay to qualify for World Cup 2002.

Again another example..after Cameroon performance in world cup 1990..Since then FIFA granted 3 seats for African national to play in World Cup.

Rule change to suit the situation and to make way for exemption. There are not there forever.

final words..i do think uefa will allow liverpool into the champs league though..but then again..mi a pool fan..so i may be biased

I am die hard liverpool fans.....I do think Liverpool deserve and I believe they will play CL next season. Although I might be biased...I use common sense (quoted from Rafa - The European Champion Manager) to overrule the rule stated on the paper.

I believe ibmn is being rational and is correct. There is no point arguing who deserves to be in the CL. The English FA's stand is only the top 4 will qualify for CL. One of the reason they gave is the number of matches played over the entire season and consistancy. Till now, no one, except UEFA, from the football world suggest to take Everton out because they throughly deserves it, esp they are suppose to be struggling.

It is simple. Look at Brazil, the World Champions, if they fail to qualify, they will not defend their title at WC 2006. Champions do not meant automatic qualification.

Having said that, I do feel that the Champions should be allowed to defend its title. UEFA should do something about it. The G14, which includes the much hated Real Madrid and Man Utd should be pressing the issue to UEFA. Both are president and vice president respectively in the G14.
