'It's too late for Liverpool' - UEFA chief

A UEFA executive committee member believes it is too late to change the rules to accommodate holders Liverpool into next season's Champions League.

they will have to let them in...

too much pressure from everywhere... and sponsors!

it is now all about $$.

i wouldn't mind not playing in the Champs league next season. so long as we won it this season.

actually it's not that bad winning uefa next season...

imagine if we win uefa beating everton in the finals... heh.....

or chelsea, or whichever english teams who got knocked out of CL....

How can anyone even think of letting a player like Hamann leave...reminds me of Gary Mcallister may be old, but his class still shows

Just saw on Soccernet:

Hamann is on the verge of signing a one-year extension to his contract.
Traore might be offered a 4 year extension
Mauricio Pellegrino will not be offer any extension !!!!! Yeah !!!

Now, if only they can get rid of Kewell & Diao too, and yeah maybe Baros if he keeps on whinning :p

why only 1 year??

Could be rolling contract type, think Liverpool scared to commit as he's over 30, when you hit that age, its easier to get injured, and be forced to sit out the entire season

beating everton that i'm sure of. but we meet them in the finals?? :bsmilie:
they might be edged out much earlier than we ever thought might be!

rolling contract means...

the original contract had expired. so the player is with the club on a weekly pay structure/contract. the pay is supposedly much lower than one with a contract.

UEFA President and the sponsor would like Liverpool to be in.

They are to decide..the UEFA committe are just to give opinion.

yes loh...even bergkamp at 36 sometimes did some magic for Arsenal to win the match...

Good for hamann to stay for another year at Liverpool..to help us fight for EPL next season.

Actually the committee is the one who decides. However, the president will have some say lah... otherwise, how to be president.

Yup... hamann is crucial to us as cover for either gerrard or Alonso. It also gives us a more defensive cover as compared with SG or XA....

McAllister left mainly because he wanted to be a manager at Conventry and he's a bit old already then.. Hamann can easily play for at least 3 more years as long as he stays pretty injury-free.

btw, your "favourite" Pellegrino did not have its contract renewed. :P

that again justify my opinion on him is backed by LFC management. Those who defend Pelle might have to eat humble pie now..

below is my view on some of the rumours trasnfer :

Current Liverpool Player

1) gerrad - renew contract
Captain of European Champion, who does not want thim ? Hope he sign and stay until 2010.

2) jamie - renew contract
Longest serving liverpool player in the current sqaud. Player of the season for LFC..He should stay for LFC for his entire playing career.

3) hamman - renew contract
 After his performance when he was sub into 2nd half in the final, all the fans can now see how effective the unsung hero is.

4) traore - renew contract
after a dramatic improvement...of course now he deserved to be liverpool player..although he is still just a slightly above average quality. I dun blame him for being caught several occasion in the CL final by Shevo. I wonder even maldini can keep shevo in total control. but his own goal in the FA CUp this season is the best blunder I could ever seen.

5) Baros to Valencai ? Lyon ?
Pls go. After half a season gone, he still mourn for missing a chance to join Baca..Not loyalty at all. We dun need this kind of player.

6) Pelle - offload
We should not have signed him at all. May be ask MU to take him and pay MU 2m as to sabotage MU. Which ever EPL team have Pelle in their games...that team will concede goals.

7) Smicer - offload
Thanks scoring the 2nd goal for us. But his prime time had gone..

8) Kirkland - to WBA
We have Scot Carsson now...who is younger and sit on the bench more than sick bay.

9) Dudek - to ??
U are hero for us. But again...his prime had gone. He has to make way for he new keeper.

10) Kewell - ????
I would like him to go...He never showed his quality that shown in Leeds. And I believe his prime had gone. He earned as the 9th highest paid player in EPL 2004/2005. but his quality and his appearance (no of match playing) do not even justify him as the 19th highest paid. Let alone we still have to folk out for several sugery medical bills for him.

Potential Incoming Liverpool Player
1) O;Shea
I dun mind...may be at 2m. Could not be at 6m. It is day light robbery at 6m.

2) Riena
at 22. Good buy. wonder how much he would cost us ?

3) Aimar
only for 10m ? it can not be so cheap..I dun mind to pay 10m + Diao + Josemi to exchange for AIMAR.

4) Milto
Yes..we need another CB to cover for Carra and Hyypia. but strong competition from madrid and other club as well.

5) Owen.....Hargreaves
cost around 2-3m. Good player. at 24. Good back up for Riise. If we are to offlaod kewell..we need another LM.

6) Zenden
No way..he is past his prime.

7) Teenager Roque.
Definately yes.. buy him and keep him and train him for 3 years. by 2008..when the home grown talent rule take place..he will fit the bill.
If Rafa can train un Biscan and Traore..I believe Rafa would turn Roque into a real good player after 2-3 years.

8) Josemi
Really like to see him leaving..he is Pelle No 2.

9) Nunez
Keep him to exchange + cash (5m) for Owen. :bsmilie:

10) Striker ??
We definately need another striker...

just don't sign that man utd player, johnny o'shea. :sweatsm:

Pls read this article.

Sh**ttt!!!

Liverpool could lose the chance to play in Champs League next year..
All bcos of stupid FA England try to play politics..

Just follow the rule book, and let Liverpool play in CL instead of Everton..

"Section I, Article 1.03 of the Champions League rule book states: “At the request of the national association concerned, the Uefa Champions League title-holders may be entered for this competition as an additional representative of that association, if they have not qualified for the Uefa Champions League via the top domestic league championship. If, in such a case, the title-holders come from an association entitled to enter four teams for the Uefa Champions League, the fourth-placed club in the top domestic league championship has to be entered for the Uefa Cup.”

The rules are clear here. The FA can enter Liverpool as defending champions, but only at the expense of the fourth-placed team, Everton.

Use common sense laah...... why u ask someone who has successfully reached only Gunung Kinabalu to climb Mount Everest next year, at the expense of someone that has REACHED the top of Everest this year?

Best achievement this season for Liverpool is to be the Champion of Europe.
Best achievement this season for Everton is to be 4th placed in EPL...

FA of England should stop politicking and try to get 5 teams into the CL.
Just let the more deserving team to go into next year CL!
