Leica X1 owner's thread

Hey guys... Just picked up the x1 over the weekend and I'm impressed at the AWB. Very nice bokeh as well. I actually took a very long time in deciding to buy this at the shop. It was a toss up between this or the Sony NEX to replace the LX3. In the end, the red dot prevailed :). Anyway, this is more of a back-up camera for my wife to my 5D2. Looks great next to my M8 too!

Anyone picked up a 3rd party lens cap for general usage?

Not to leave my post with no pics, this is one of the 1st test shots...

I got a feeling although this is mainly for my wife, I will be stealing it quite often.

the supplied LR3 can easily post process to such results

Can I know how you managed to get your colours and grain like this? Is it through a software? Thanks.

For JPEGs out-of-camera, you can probably just turn up the contrast and saturation. Otherwise any image processing software should work.

Not an owner but had the priviledge to use one

Hi,

I used the LightRoom2 software supplied by the X1.

I find OOC jpgs very appealing when Saturation and Contrast turned up to "Medium High" and Sharpening to "Medium Low". The colors are punchy but still natural.

Lightroom 3 is now included in every X1...even though i got mine in May this year I was expecting to download the previous version but the latest version was offered. :)

HELP!!!! Got the x-1 recently... and had this problem:
The x-1 is set to auto power down in 2 minutes. I have encountered this twice in two days the x-1 went into power off mode and hung with lens still sticking out. Pushing ON/OFF button or any button doesn't wake the camera up. I have to remove the battery and everything is ok again.

is this a bug and has this been reported anywhere?

Did you set the auto LCD off to any time? Its independent to the auto power off function. I'm using both functions and set them to 1 and 2 min respectively and camera was able to wake up with no problems. Hope this helps...

I'm not an owner but was given one to try out, took it out with me for a couple of days. The image quality is astounding for a camera this size, the noise control is also very pleasing. Even at iso 1600 the camera produces a very tasteful graininess which is very usable, really makes me think twice about whether this is really a APSC sensor or a FF! Very small and unobtrusive, and really an extension of the photographer, rather than an extension of your face an in a dSLR.

Here are a couple of shots I took:

My only gripe with the camera, it's overall sluggishness.

It's slow at virtually everything which can be really frustrating at times.

Hopefully a new firmware update will address this issue... :)

Thanks everyone for all your contributions...great photos uploaded here! Keep them coming ya...:D

If I understand it correctly, this is due to the slow frame rate of the sensor used in contrast detection auto focus mode. So, firmware won't be able to help much.
