Guys all I can say is I got a very good price cos I traded in my spoilt compact Leica to the agent.Paid low 2k for it. :)

Hi Jet, that's a very good price. Can you tell me where you get it from? I also have a spoilt Leica to trade in. Thanks.

Glad to know that there is a X1 thread being made...

Got my X1 about a month ago, but have not got much time to shoot much... will definitely post pics in the very near future...

agreed, highlight slightly blown. however "camera is struggling to keep details in the greens" ?? i thought the bokeh produce a compact camera of this small size is fantastic?

Just pointing out the dynamic range is quite wide, and the sensor is hard at work. CA is well controlled too.

Overall, it's a very impressive camera. I'm trying to stay calm for 6 months liaoz.

I've got 2 extra hotshoe cover perfect fit for X1 to let go. Anybody interested can PM or email me airsick@singnet.com.sg and I'll get back to you as soon as I come back frm my Bangkok trip this Sunday.Pics attached and as you can see its a perfect fit for my X1. Not profiting from this as I ordered a few so that we can share shipping cost from US. $16.50 each and strictly self collect in the east area as I do not want to be responsible for lost mail... Thanks :D

OK one hotshoe cover left...PM or email me. :)

I posted some impressions of the x1 on my blog (http://www.perfectlight.biz/blog/?p=1040) a couple of days ago. Borrowed the camera to test during a recent trip. Excellent quality images but focusing too slow for my liking. Hopefully can be speeded up in a future firmware update. ;p

I've been using the Leica X1, and the experience is quite unlike anything I've used before. My cameras include the EOS 5D Mk II and the Leica M9 and M8.2, but to see such quality images from a compact chassis such as the Leica X1 is quite an astounding experience. The "pocketability" of the camera and the great lens make the X1 a joy to carry around, knowing that you're not giving up image quality for the convenience factor.

Nice review! BTW you can review the images without removing the lens cap. Just hold on to the play button while switching on. You can then pass the camera around to show the photos without fear of people touching the precious lens.

Hi Schmuak,

Great tip! Thanks for that... didn't know that could be done. :)

Thanks! Glad you liked the review. And oh yes... the car is one of the key highlights of my otherwise mundane life... :p

Thanks so much Nelson for contributing to this humble thread of ours. I am truly inspired from viewing your website. Great works and review of the X1. I am a novice when comes to photography and still learning to take good shots with the X1. I do hope that more local X1 users can contribute their pics here and at the same time learn and share more about this camera. Look forward to more postings from you Nelson. :D
