Leica Q Type 116 - fixed lens 1.7/28 and full frame camera!

It's ok since you have been allocated one. Heard there was another shipment a couple weeks ago. Looks like product is slowly catching up with demand and also getting ready for production of the new camera to be announced soon.

New camera is the full frame Leica SL interchangeable lens camera expected 20 Oct 2015 to be announced with 3 lens, according to canon rumors

owners of leica Q .. pls be reminded that the view finder glass coating is easily scratched if you wear specs!
good to apply protector film if one can't stand imperfection.

I had mine scratch badly from recent trip uses.. I wonder if they are easily replaceable!

Darn! this needs to get better glass coating for the premium the cam commands for!

Not sure if it is easily replaceable but I am pretty it can be done. Just how much will it cost and how long it will take.

I applied screen protector on the EVF on day one.

If it's still a pretty new set, u can try swinging by Leica Svc Ctr and see what they can do.

I can't afford the Q but have the X which Leica did a 1-1 replacement when it was dinged from a bang against the wall in its first 12 months of warranty.

That said , it's pretty surprising that a pair of glasses can do such damage to the VF glass coating. *_*

Wait for the Leica Q-P, sapphire glass for the EVF :P

thks .. I will try to call them on this.
I did a Google search for this topic and it did come up and yes there have been complaints and lots of debate and theories on the scratched EVF...
specs definitely the cause of it due to shallow eye cup.. the glasses we wear is concave with radius of curvature so the point of contact causes the abrasion.

Wanted to get a q but the waiting time is 2 mths hahah

Wallet's out. Can I check with the existing owners if they were able to get the EVF protector direct from Leica Store?
Also, I am going to buy the daybag as well; does it fit a MP240/246 with short lens?

Fully paid and now in a 2 months waiting list, but decided against the day bag as you need to detach the hood for the bag to close nicely. Shame.

Congrats. It is worth the wait. I actually thought the supply has caught up with the demand.

My understanding is there are a lot of German holidays towards the end of the year. Hope they remain sober assembling my piece! :p

hopefully it wasn't a unit assembled during Oktoberfest fest!

I am sure I can smell that! :p Hope the RX1RM2 is out by January for me to play with also. :P

[edit]The camera reminds me a lot of my m6 actually. I actually don't like the dampness and lightness of the lens, definitely lighter than the actual M setup.
However two things convinced me, 1 is the short focus throw, another being the touch shutter.

Feels like a very practical camera and not a computer.

Leica Q or Sony RX1R II. If I wanna buy one compact full frame for daily use, which one to go for?

I would not say either are compact, because both are bulky in some ways.
That said, the leica will be 28mm, so if that's your thing there are no subs.
But the rx1r ii will have a 35mm lens, and if you crop to 50mm, you will still have between 18 to 20 mp to work with.
So it can be a full frame 42mp 35mm camera, it can also be a 50mm aps-c 18mp camera. That alone imo can justify the cost for me.

Really depends on the focal length that you're used to. For me, I'll go for the Leica simply because I prefer the EVF on the Leica. I'm not a fan of the pop up EVF because they don't seem that sturdy (my perception). The 40+mp is also a turn off for me. I don't need such high resolution and find it a hindrance. Again this is something personal to me and you may find it a plus

You can also use the Sony 21mm wide angle adapter and turn the 35mm into a 26mm lens! http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55938054

According to the OP, from f4.0 to f11.0 the IQ is pretty good.

I like the user friendly operations of the leica. I'm used to using 20mm on m4/3 which is 40mm. I would love to try out the fast lens that comes with the leica. I also think that the pop out evf have a much higher chance of damage due to the mechanical parts. I like almost everything about leica except, the bigger footprint. Also have concerns about the IQ. Any views on this? As compared to the new sony sensor. Also how about the image processing.

Has been travelled to Dusseldorf and call Foto Leistenschneider, they said new batch will come out on mid November but there are around 20 customer on waiting list.
then went to Cologne/Koln find Lambertin Shop near Cathedral, but no stock available.
next stop is Amsterdam, I can not find Leica Q also in this country.
Lucky me, before fly back home I spot on a salesperson just put in Leica Q inside the shelf.
I bought it before somebody else did. It cost Euro 3999,
