All Pentax comes with Japan Only warranty.
No international warranty

Can I chime in?
I've bought all my Pentax gear in the UK while I was studying there. The shop, SRS Microsystem, informed me that all Pentax products sold are covered with 1 year international warranty and 3 years UK warranty. When I asked about the international warranty, they told me that it goes by serial number and the receipt.
A few weeks after my purchase, the DA*16-50 died because the SDM. Sent it in, and got it back a week later with the AF motor replaced.
10 months later it died again. Since I was already back here, I dropped by Emjay. Emjay told me that I would have to bear all the cost (repairs and shipping to Japan). Puzzled by this, I sent an email to Pentax Support. And here's their reply:
"In order to repair the camera outside the UK you need a valid international warranty card.
The card has to be stamped by the dealer (SRS Microsystems). Having enclosed a valid warranty card you are not charged for the service."
So having no warranty card, it's as good as having no warranty for a product that's barely a year old. Frustrated by this, I tried the SDM self-repair using a guide found from PF. It worked, and has not given me any problems so far. Interesting, won't you say? On a side note, none of my other Pentax lenses or the K-5 that's bought from the UK showed any issues.
So for those who wants to purchase Pentax gear from the UK, it's imperative to get that card stamped (and don't forget the 20% VAT refund! It's done by them, so you get back the full 20%, less the 10 quid processing fee).

I rem reading somewhere about international warranty card for pentax US. U got to mail in some information and they will mail u the warranty card. But for Japan I think don't have

You can certainly get international warranty in Japan. It might be a hassle for the small shops to get the international warranty card, but it definitely is possible with the big retailers. Boils down whether they want to entertain you or not. On a side note, I have bought Pentax gear from different countries outside Singapore and it comes down whether you want have peace of mind warranty wise and opt to pay more locally or not. In my case, I've never really had to get warranty service in a big way and the savings from buying overseas more than makes up for the cost of service. To me most gear related problems occur after some time, so that local 1 year warranty may not mean very much anyway.

Not true . If you happen to go Japan holiday or yr friend go Japan and the price different is like $400 ... and if there is international warranty , Y not ? What trouble are you referring ??
Doesn't really matter if buy new or buy 2nd hand . It's a total different thing
Another example , lets say a 2nd hand K5 now cost around 900 without warranty and If you happen to go Japan and had one brand new one going for 900 .... who care the warranty ?

Haha...ya if happen that i going jp...if not then i feel that just settle here ok liao. If price different is 1k above....i will go jp get it and snap there too lolxxx
