it may take 5 sec. but the power and performance. speechless. it is a muscle car. the power on str8s. oh dear. im glued to the seat! the VY commodore is enough to that that. wat more the HSV R8. and really Terry? you saw a commodore along orchard rd b4? serious?

yeah I did. it did have the Chevrolet badge on, but there was no mistaking the shape of the VY from behind.

Maybe if the TS wants a coupe she should import a GTO (Monaro - discontinued) from Australia. It's totally impractical for use in Singapore like the S5 or GTR

i would love to get the Maloo in haha. back to topic im still voting for S5

I didn't read every thread but looks like car's still good subject here :)

Jeanie. You got to ask yourself what are you looking for in the first place & then analyze it.

I see that both are 2+2, both can be practical, boot space, presence etc.

Brands & make are quite different but the GTR is like the best of the Jap. Quite a few reviews on the Ring timing/drives etc in magazines again.

I suppose fuel consumption/road tax is not an issue here & with the high "fatality" rate in GTR+turbo, the insurance will rise as days go by. Don't forget the tyres as well. GTR is on 20" BS RE70? & you'll have to indent them few months before hand & they can set you back S$2K+/- a set, provided you keep the car that long. ;)

I have no experience in either but such cars' steering feel are usually quite "dead". If you love & enjoy driving fast+b roads, you need to fine tune the suspension etc or look into some other slightly more hardcore cars.

executive cars don't really appeal much to me for some reason unless say for practical reasons. :bsmilie:
so GTR it is for me although i prefer brash european monsters. :sweatsm:

definitely the audi.
Way more classy.

IMHO, the nissan's really just a zngged ah beng car. no big deal.

both are 2 + 2.but s5 back seats beats GTR hands down.
when u sit in the gtr rear, you are 99% under the sun...that is, if you are driving in the day.
the roof doesnt cover you at all.tried it.
+ the heat coming out from the gearbox which is located in the mid-rear position wrt car....horrible.
guess what?my insurance for this car is less than 2k(i dont want to quote exact amount in order not to spoil market).
yes 20inch re 070.
each tyre cost 1.2k.
1 whole set will be about 4.8k?thereabouts.these are soft compound tyres...so they wear out pretty fast.usually i change my tyres in about 1 year...depends on how often i drive the car, and of course, how hard i drive it.

definitely the audi.

but but but...the GTR comes STOCK from factory in japan.no zhngning wor....

s5 is tiptronic.
they had brought in manual before but couldnt sell well.

i love manual cars.especially doing heel/toe.

but i dont mind paddle shifts too because that's what i have been driving with for the past 2 years.

in any case, most of the time, it's on auto mode for daily commuting, save for the occasional overtaking and rush to adrenaline.

Juz went through the thread & I think u're a good kaki to talk to! Me loves manual cars but never had the chance to master heel/toe. I'm still stuck with two manuals now ;(

I lusted for the GTR back then but I held on. @ one point of time, I almost bought an R34 V spec! Many of my friends have/had it & some sold within a few months citing 'cold" animal while others rave about it. It's a great car for track etc. but I hear it's still cluncky when cold or 1st 2 gears which I hate. You should know what soft/hardwares there are for it by now.

For me, a sports car needs a "soul". But if you're looking for a daily fast commuter, that shouldn't be too important since you have other toys.

Do you ferry passengers @ the back? If yes, then the points you stated should be valid & yes, it's tight back there compared to Audi. Will window sticker help to block out some heat?

Btw, u don't happen to know Tiong do you?

R34?nice car.was really godzilla of jap sports car a few years back.now with R35, even more so, but it has totally went out of the league compared to evo/sti cos japan lifted the 280hp thing.

so do you think GTR has 'soul'?

i do ferry passengers once in a while.but i dont think the gtr will be my daily ride.i'll prob drive something more comfortable.or maybe alternate bet GTR (if i buy it) and other rides.

window stickers might but i think it will be illegal since you're going to reduce the size of visibility.

which tiong?
i know quite a few friends with 'tiong' in it.

Well, I don't know. There's a lot of soul in designing the car. I like the design but find it way too bulky & getting common. I'm thinking of heavy tinting sticker for the rear glass but can be bad for night drives & TP.

The S5? for me, just another sleek coupe, it doesn't thrill me in looks alone. The new lights do look good & make everything else on the road "dated" IMO.

If not daily, then what are you looking for in these two? What are you looking for in this new transport?

I'm thinking of the new 997 GT3 but credit rating says cannot :bheart: :bsmilie:

Tiong as in Desmond but If you're not related to him then maybe we've at least probably heard of each other. Like they say, not many gals that into cars like you.

I think the S5 sounds nice too... i'm sure there is something that can amplify the exhaust sound... maybe Milltek tuning, ECU, air intake & exhaust could add a total of 50bhp more. & Milltek exhaust for Audi sounds very good.

For Audis, one word. MTM. Specifically on exhaust, quite a few VAG cars are on Miltek. I believe there are some RSes in Singapore on Tubis or Eisenmanns.
