Wow.. Just read the review. The Ricoh R4 looks like a winner. It has more stuffs than the 800IS! Superb zoom range, and comes also with its own IS. Also about the same size as the 800IS! And oh boy, 3:2 format!! BUT...!
I dunno why but I still feel kinda skeptical. All these sound too good to be true. I also read ricleo's opinions on the R4 here. After doing some research recently on digicams, I realize if u have some fantastic features, something else has got to give.... And I suspect image quality is one likelihood. The false rave over Panasonic for me is a disappointment as I was all set to get it until I realize how bad it's low light and mid-ISO upwards images are. Well, I guess it won't matter to those who don't place too much emphasis on noise.
Time and again, I have tried telling myself to stray away from Canon cams to try other brands...but darn! Somehow I just can't! Maybe I just feel so reassured with Canon, given their long standing reputation. Or maybe.. have I come under their spell?! :bsmilie:
Sigh, so R4, looks like I will give it a miss...
