Metz 36AF same size as FL36?
Almost same.
Metz 36 AF-4: 71 x 115 x 95mm, 205g
FL 36R: 65mm (W) x 109mm (H) x 95mm (D), 270g

Has anyone noticed that even though the G1/GH1 and E-P1 all subscribe to the m43 standards, the way they cope with legacy Four Thirds lenses is different.
The G1/GH1 can only autofocus with Panasonic's own Four-Thirds lenses and only with the newer Olympus Four Thirds lenses that are designed for contrast detection AF. With the older Olympus ZD lenses, only manual focus is possible.
See their compatibility list here:
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/connect/g1.html
The E-P1 on the other hand can autofocus with every ZD lens, new or old, that I have and tried. It would a bit slower in autofocusing with the older ZD lenses that are not designed for CDAF but will at least still do so.
I am wondering whether this is achieved by the firmware/hardware in the camera body or in the MMF-1 adapter.

Notice that quite a few (at least 3) E-P1 users are already selling their E-P1 on the B&S section. Is there any problem with this camera?
Confirm not because of the MMF-1, because I am using the Panasonic adapter and I am still able to auto focus with 50mm f2..
Thanks bro, for the info. I personally think, besides the cheaper price, it goes better with the black Oly 4/3 lenses.
The FL-36 is not very heavy but it would definitely be more top heavy than the FL-14 which is designed for the E-P1. For me, it is still acceptable as I already have one and am only using it when absolutely necessary.
An alternative flash to the FL-14 is the DWM-FL220 from Panasonic for the G1/GH1. It can bounce... the swivel-head mount allows for 60 degrees of up/down and 78 degrees of right/left movement.

If you shoot with an Four-Thirds macro lens eg the ZD 50mm f/2.0 Macro, ZD 35mm f/3.5 Macro, Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX... then very good ! As good as with Olympus DSLRs![]()
Don't know why so many sites say can swivel and bounce:Hi, i check with cathy photo the flash is $299 and cannot bounce.

how much cheaper is the pana adapter? i understand the oly one goes for 248-260?
oso, still possible for the 14-35 or 12-60 to be upgraded in the future (via firmware or whatever) to use contrast detect AF? or maybe they'll come up with mk2 versions for those
i certainly hope so, those two lenses are interesting
If you really want cheap, then get the third party adapter from Chiif... $100 onlyhow much cheaper is the pana adapter? i understand the oly one goes for 248-260?

:dunno:
Would have to physical check a unit out to see if it can or cannot bounce.
Anyway, it is expected that Panasonic flashes and accessories would be more expensive than those of Olympus. It has always been so.

I'll be very surprised if the Panasonic version is cheaper than the Olympus one as all their equivalent accesories have been more expensive.
