How do we join the eclub to buy the batt? The online form doesn't have e-p1 in the camera list to register. Do we do it at olympus office?

from wat i understand, have to go down personally with reciept to sign up n collect.

regarding the plastic body.. what i know the external front back panels are metal.. the top n bottom ones i think are plastic...
but does it matter? isn't the $12,000 canon 1DsMk111 mainly plastic also?

some ppl also argue, metal dents.. plastic are better able to absorb shock n return to original shape..

Hope this helps :)

been looking at this for awihle..

can anyone comment on the AF speed in two scenarios:

--low light with a f1.4 or below lens
--normal day light with a zoom lens

Im currently using a d300 + 17-55 / 18-200. AF is just about right for me....

also regarding video:

-able to zoom in / out during filming? And if able to zoom, is it a smooth zoom (zoom slowly goes in / out) or is it a stepped zoom (bit by bit jerky steps)? I know some cameras has a bit of a jerky zoom, but some of the new panasonic compacts have this super slow smooth zoom feature....

with regards to your queries:

low light with f1.4 lens - i dont own such a lens, cant comment..
normal day light with zoom lens - i got the dual kit, the af speed is definitely not as fast as your d300 for sure. however it is definitely faster than any of the high end pns in the market (as mentioned by intosite)

i personally felt that the af is slightly 'hesitant', uncertain at times but accurate enough for most of the general purposes that it is intended for..

the video mode of the E-P1 is.. ok-ish, however the mic did pick up some focusing noise from the lens (using 14-42 kit)
not sure what you meant by step by step or smooth zoom..

oh i think i know what he's asking bout the zoom in vid.. it's a smooth zoom, as the ring is mechanical.. how much you turn determines how much you zoom...
some cams the zoom ain't mechanical, so when you zoom in/out, it increases by preset steps... you can't like stop it halfway...

I want to get the dual kit this weekend. Anyone knows where i can get a silver set? Thanks.

dont think dual kit will still available.. yesterday already out

thats alot of $ for that tiny flash.. in comparison the 270ex from canon is $199..
Just use the FL-36 loh. More powerful, can bounce and very cheap if bought used since it is not the latest version (FL-36R)

I joined the club to buy the battery at $45.

Am I supposed to receive any member card or t shirt after joining the club?

When can we see some of your 16:9 aspect shots taken with the E-P1? You're famous for 16:9 shots. ;)

Does the RAW file change in accordance to the selected aspect ratio like those in LX3?

I've not really used the computer to look at the pictures yet....

If you are using Master or Studio, you can select the desired aspect ratio you want in the converted file even if it's different from the set aspect ratio of the shot at the time of shooting.

Just got my Four Thirds Adapter MMF-1 today.
These are a few test shots with my cats as models using the Leica D-Summilux 25mm f/1.4 and Zuiko Digital 50mm f/2.0 Macro on the E-P1.

For Olympus, most likely it'll be the same 12 mp sensor, but cropped top and bottom to the aspect ratio.

Collected mine last night. Here's a story about the 'new girl' in my bl0g

Thanks for the review, and the big pictures (small pictures are pointless as reference, IMHO, we can show the same quality using a good PNS).

The noise of the enlarged pics is not too bad, for a digital camera, although IMHO terrible compared to film of same ISO (even just 35mm), so I guess have to be careful to use high ISO for pics that will be enlarged beyond normal. It is already a good accomplishment for the 12mp sensor, however, as you mentioned.

Anyway, I am going for the white one too :) (although I wish they had all black), just waiting for the OM lens adapter. I also wish they will come out with a 12mm, for now I'll probably use the 14mm part of the zoom most of the time.

Hi guys,

I got my white Pen + 17mm from MS Color today and started putting my camera through the paces. Started writing my review and there's some sample pix there too.

Thanks !

Hmmm, I like the Zuiko, seems more focused at least in these samples ... cheaper too

Some of my virgin test shots using the E-P1. Didn't have time to go for a short photo walk, so took these while loitering in my wife's office today (while waiting for her to finish work) ...
