can someone enlighten me on this.. cant find an answer at olympus sg website

with regards to the twin lens or the pancake lens option.. is the external viewfinder included in the package?

The pancake kit will come with the external VF.

Actually I wouldn't say the EP-1 'beats' them both. The G10 and DP1 are both good cameras for their areas of strength - G10 (nice all in one compact package, nice ergonomics) DP1 (good lens, very nice foveon sensor if used to its strengths)

If I was going pure IQ now, for me I'd get the DP2. However, since I am a rangefinder user with some lenses that I like to use, the EP-1 represents to me finally an affordable 'RF' kit since I am not going to splurge $$$ on a M8 :P For that alone, I'm inclined to invest in the m4/3 format.

Its great for the hobby though that there are so many options now :)

Would the M-lens adapter be of use to you, to help you splurge on lenses? :bsmilie:

Yeah M to m4/3 adapter would be very useful, but not for my wallet! : X

No idea how easy it would be to manual focus via the LCD though, especially in bright daylight, guess must wait for others to preview and feedback!

Just curious.... we know that m4/3 lenses can't be used on the 4/3 bodies. What about the FL-14 flash? Does anybody know if it will work with the 4/3bodies? I would think that it is possible....

any any any updates from those who went for the hands on session??

sure it can work, but why you want to used it when "most" of the 4/3 bodies has the same flash built in ?

Compact flash wise, I would only get the FL14 if they had a version with a flash head that can pivot up for bounce. Most of the time I really dislike head on flash. But it looks really retro!

I can't decide between the silver or the white one! For those who have tried the white one, is the paint coating robust or easily peeled off?

It starts at 2.30pm today, so ...
Anyway, what are you keen to find out? Maybe can take note when at the session...

Thanks and you're very right, why would one want to use the FL-14 on a 4/3 body that have a flash built-in. :)

Hey Azul, nice pic of your nikkor hehe :) How much does the F-m4/3 adapter cost and is it a good fit to both lens and body?
It cost me ~US$96 including shipping, bought from cam.plus (eBAY). Quality wise not the best but it fits nicely and can focus to infinity which matters most.

Beautiful presentation and comments, microcosm. How can one not buy ? :bsmilie:

I remember Olympus always wanted to improve on their high ISO, and it seems they delivered, even on this first model. Can't wait, only a few more days ...

.

i can answer the question of "How can one not buy?"!!
The answer is very simple, cause some people like,me,still studying, don't have the $$$ to go and buy :D,not soon anyway

By the way, anybody knows if the adapters will be available ? Especially the OM lens adapter ... thanks

.

i know in japan, if you pre-ordered the twin lens kit, when you pick up the set, you need to mail the receipt to them and they will send it out later on.

my only guess is cause they don't have enough to go out together on the 3rd?

Even though you already have 3 four-thirds bodies? :bsmilie:

I wonder how you will like this one in your hands. I think I wouldn't be so comfortable with the way it's used. I've used my mum's point-and-shoot but a US$150 camera isn't much compared to something about US$700 with a US$200 adapter and US$1000 lens. I think I'll need a tripod for one of these.

I hope someone can see how the 20mm f/1.7 works with it. Extra low light performance would be great to see.

yup, lol, cause i mainly use my E-1 and E-3,my E-510 sits in the cabinate, used when i'm too lazy to carry out the E-1 or E-3. I won't get rid of E-1 and E-510 because of sentimental value, but the E-3 can go any day,but not any day soon since i mainly use it for events in my secondary school :D. The E-P1 really is my pocket camera, even with 17mm lens attached, and I'm wearing jeans not cargo pants :bsmilie:

Surprisingly,it is quite comfortable,it's shape, size and weight is very similar to the OM cameras, though the OMs are slightly lighter for some reason, maybe due to the stainless steel chassis and electronics in the E-P1

See here for a non-scientific experiment on the iso control performance of this little gem. ;)

One question on the external view finder?

So does it have any focus point on the view finder? How to set the focus point on the view finder? Is it possible?
