Is Sigma 85mm F1.4 in the market yet?

I took the plunge and purchased the Sigma 85mm. I have no prior experience in any 85mm so i didn't know what to expect in a "good" 85mm lense.
The 1st set had some focusing issue whereby the lense keep hunting and the distance mark keep jerking left and right with a ciak ciak ciak sound.
I refer it to the salesman and they acknowledge that it was not an acceptable copy.
The 2nd copy was good.

Here are some of the pics taken in real world situation, in both day and night. It was paired with D90.
All pics posted are straight out of camera. No processing, no resize.
I can't remember the aperture used.

Twilight condition with lots of neon signboards. I focus on the boys. AWB i think.

In train. I place my cam on my lap and shoot. I dunno where is the focus point. AWB i think.

My comments on this sigma 85:
Bokeh: You may look at the pics to draw your own conclusion. It is good to me though.
Focusing: Smooth
Accuracy: High keeper rate at f1.4
Sharpness at f1.4: My pics might not be conclusive to those who wants to compare sharpness at f1.4 but my experience is that it is very good and acceptable to me.
Color rendition: Good with a slight tint of warm
Color contrast: Good
Purple fringing: It is there but it doesn't get to the point that it irritates me
I love the smooth focusing, accuracy, color rendition and contrast.

For a price like this, I am keeping it unless there is another 85mm lense that can thrash this sigma hands down.

Wow that is a very nice price you had! However the QC of Sigma really scares me. I have the 30mm and 50mm which I thought was OK until I sent it in for calibration and then it really shine! Now I love them so much!

Anyone had recent experience buying grey set without warranty? Mind sharing? I heard Sigma has improved on their QC but not sure by how much.

Just bought mine from WS in HK. Paid SGD 940.00 for HK Grey Set, no warranty .. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Wow!! I am going to HK in Oct!!!

I see that local grey set price is very competitive as well., no need to go hk and buy. To me, as long as the shop offer 7days warranty for grey set, I'm willing to take the risk.

Sorry where is WS in HKG? My brother will be there I like to ask him to help me get a set.

Wing shing in Mongkok. Exit D3 from Mongkok mtr station and walked, I'm sure he will come across the shop.

Hi all. I see this thread has been inactive and I thought that I can revive this.

I shall be heading over HK, and I am keenly considering this lens, as it goes for about HKD $6,000 over there. It's either this or the Nikon AF-S 85mm f/1.4G. I don't intend to raise all the comparison in IQ and lens performance, as those issues are well-addressed in the earlier posts and from various review sites / photographer blogs.

What I am interested to know is if the Sigma lens has any reported faults and if the Sigma customer center is able to address any faults and/or issues in a prompt fashion. Any CSers have any comments on this?

U referring to faults that comes in after months of usage?

Hi!

In general, anything unfortunate that may occur after purchasing the lens.

Not that I experienced of. I searched online and there wasn't any issue reported by other users after purchasing this lense.

never had any faults with the mechanism before
