Is Sigma 85mm F1.4 in the market yet?

The Nikon still wins on sharpness and contrast, especially at the corners.

AT more than double the price (BNIB) of the Sig, I would not expect less !

Damn ! Use to go HK every mth for work, unfortunately back then I was not into photography
Remember seeing Tin Cheug at Miramar Shopping Centre cos I ususally put up along Nathan Road.

Thanks for the tip ! Need to figure that out. Just switched to Nikon, was a Canon 7D user before.

Incidently, went to try out the nikon 85 f1.4G vs sig 85 f1.4 over lunch. Found that the colours, sharpness and bokeh all better with the nikon.
Street price diff was less than I thought (new vs new). So its a tough call. Btw, tried both lens on a D3 body at the shop.

U can look out for it in buy sell section. I got mine at $800. Super good condition. No warranty though. The weight is a concern compare to 85 f1.4d.

The older Nikon AF 85mm f/1.4D is really fairly irrelevant today; I rate the Sigma to be superior in every way, and several notable photographers I follow think this way too.

It was good. But the newer Nikon is way better. The Sigma beats it in quality and price. That's my take.

Yes sigma 85 can have AF micro adjustment done on d800 also

same with NEX 7, can micro adjust this Sigma 85mm F1.4 Alpha mount through LA-EA2. Focus speed is superb.

got it BNIB from HK online shop within 5 days after ordering. no issue with AF so did not set any micro adjust value at the end.

Note: LA-EA1 cannot focus this SIGMA 85mm F1.4. Either CDAF or the protocol to E-mount conversion does not work with this Sigma 85mm F1.4.
Only LA-EA2 and maybe LA-EA3 works well.

I simply love the bokeh and sharpness of this lens. It is MUCH sharper than my walkaround 17-55mm f2.8 canon lens.

I also personally like sigma's color signature.. a bit yellowish but it adds warmth especially when you shoot people.

yep.. the sigma's got a slightly warmer tint



if anything, it can be easily adjusted as desired in post process
