Is Sigma 85mm F1.4 in the market yet?

Wonder if any recently got this from HK?

If buying with international warranty how much does it cost?

Now is my turn to chip in to return the favor.

I bought it in HK in Dec 2011 for HK$6,000. From my sources in HK, it is still being sold at that price. (please give an allowance of +/- HK$200 as well as your bargaining skills)

It has been a great 8 months with the lens, with no issues to report. My Sigma 85mm f/1.4 requires no AF micro adjustment on both my Nikon D300s and my Nikon D7000.

I cannot provide any answer for the international warranty as I have never asked for it.

Hope it helps!

Just to reaffirm my addiction to this lens! Was using it on my 5d2 & having switched over to Nikon recently I went back to get the Nikon version....mind blowing bokeh, sharp where/when it needs to be.

Bought mine from HK, June 2011, no problems and totally enjoyable lens.

Bought mine locally last October, If I recall correctly. Sharp, beautiful bokeh, AF is generally reliable. Some visible CA wide open but this is expected.

Sadly I might need to part with this lens to fund something else =(

anyone compare this with the Nikon 85 1.4G, tempted to get the sigma due to the price...

but most of the review i came across or based on user own opinion... was hoping to find a review where there is a side to side image comparision...

Photographer Ryan Brenizer did a comparison. And websites with standard testing methodology such as Photozone is also pretty objective.

Also, i am sure you can find and analize full sized picture samples from both lenses from the internet.

Hmm.. looks like I will be getting Sigma instead :)

What I have been getting around in the internet is consistent with my personal experience.

The new Nikon AF-S 85mm f/1.4G and Canon's EF 85mm f/1.2L are superior to this Sigma.

But the Sigma runs it close, at only a fraction of its Canon and Nikon counterparts.

To sweeten things, the HSM is also very swift and responsive.

just got an excellent condition copy from a fellow CSer... immediately impressed by the AF speed...

Hey guys a couple of quick question if I may. What is the street price of the 85 (nikon mount) locally in Singapore ?

How much does it cost to calibrate the lens at Sigma Singapore ?

I like to pair this with my D600.

Many thanks!

I think it is about S$1,300. Best to just check with your preferred store for details.

As for calibration, I read that it is S$80? I have never done it before.

Many thanks ! Thats an attractive price in comparison with the nikon equivalent, albeit a penalty in wgt, bulk and sharpness ... not much as I have read from all the reviews.

Interesting that lotsa lens seem to have to be calibrated right out of the box ... speaks alot about the QC (or lack of).

I got mine from HK; the prices there are far more competitive.

My Sigma lens did not require calibration though. Perhaps I was lucky.

As for the bulk and weight, it is similar to the Nikon equivalent. The Nikon still wins on sharpness and contrast, especially at the corners.
