I'm always impressed with how the fanboys on either side can make a mountain out of a grain of sand.
On another site, they're arguing about the video application and how it uses the H.264 protocol, which was mentioned as an open standard. To the person who wrote the article "open" means "free", but that's his confusion. It's not like 1 Kilobyte of memory is equal to 1000 bytes; it's 1024.
Any time you hear how wonderful something is, do you believe it all or do you remain skeptical until you try it for yourself?
Maybe because there are lies coming out from Apple that makes those who are self-righteous to come forward and trying to correct them?
Or simply because, we just like to talk trash over the internet. :bsmilie:

But I think their claim is valid. They are pioneers in using the 'Retina' display for the iPhone 4. The re-invented how people use certain devices. they are innovators. They changed the way how people see and use their phones. The music industry. That's a fact you cannot deny. App store? thats a first by them to take it mass market. Android is playing catch-up but they are catching up quickly.
i found it to be rather ingenious to use the stainless steel bands as antennae, thats innovation.
hate it as much as you want, but Apple is selling more than just devices. They are selling an entirely new market. Apple is just being the middleman by providing solutions to both ends. That to me I think its a fantastic way to market. Hell, they have and will earn so much money and they know its working. Some people like the idea of being all under one roof, some don't.
I must state my approach however that I believe fanboyism and loyalty is useless unless there is some loyalty benefits like airlines frequent flier programmes.
At the end of the day, they just want your money. Be it Sony, Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Apple or HP.

iPad for sure. Not going to change phones everytime a new one comes out. But also waiting to see what the PC Pads (ahem) coming out are like.
It's a pity HTC Evo 4G isn't sold here. HDMI output! You can't buy the one from US and use it here as not same network.

I've been getting weekly notices from my carrier that the EVO 4G would be available and now that it's available, it's sold out. :bsmilie:
I switched phones not quite a year ago, so it's not on the menu anyway but it looks great, except for battery life.

The battery life is the only drawback I've seen overall and that's typical of the first hardware for a new networking protocol. When EV-DO was fresh, the battery life on devices was terrible. It's changed a lot since then. The huge display also is a drain on the battery.
The later article that was posted mentioned the HTC Sense interface and how HTC is holding back updates. Since most of the Android phones are made by HTC (at least, for the U.S. market), everything they make will take longer to get upgrades.

Well so far I've only read 3 reviews on the Evo - the 2 given by swampthing and the one given by adorable. I can't say I'm entice to get one after reading the reviews. And if the battery life is true as described in the articles, it is not just a drawback but a serious one.

When I had my Samsung A900 in 2006 on Sprint's 3G/EV-DO network, with much of any usage, I'd need to charge the battery. Part of the problem was the big display and the other part was the 3G data hardware. After I got the extended battery, it lasted about 50 % more.
It was actually quite good as a 3G modem and I could run for 6 hours in that mode, but talking and surfing the web and play Java games sucked battery power completely in 2-3 hours. The second battery was handy. My third 3G phone, an LG Lotus, is much more efficient with only a slightly bigger battery.
As the EVO is the first of its kind (a WiMAX device) in the U.S.A., I expect the same kind of demand on the battery as the A900 was. Given that it was 3 years between the phones, I'd be surprised if WiMAX or HSPA+ or LTE phones would be efficient until 2013 or 2014.
Isn't it always a problem being the first?
