Ya lor! What the hell is wrong with the weather these few days. Early in the morning, sky dark dark, afternoon ok but too lazy liao. Or early in the morning sky good for IR shoot, but by the time I am ready to get out to do it, sky dark dark again. No bright sunlight, don't feel like shooting IR.

Hoping for good weather tomorrow morning, definitely want to go out and shoot. Fingers really itchy, have been scratching until got rash already. Wish me luck.

Wah, envy you ah, lunch time can shoot...
I would shoot at lunch time too, but my coy don't allow cameras in office :nono:

Just a suggestion, at the location of the 2nd photo, try shooting towards the station at the pillar where the tracks split.... should be nice...

I like the 3rd photo :)

Hi, thanks for the comments and critique. I did soften the some of the pics deliberately. If I'm right, IR photos on film do glow slightly. Read it in some magazine before. Tried to simulate it slightly in my PP technique. ;)

The sun was playing hide and seek with me today. Not so good for IR shots, managed to shoot some.

Here are a few to bump up this thread. Comments ???
ark19 - are the verticals and horizontals ok? I "pa cheow".

I'll go thru' the rest to see how many can I salvage.

Hi teerex,
Good photo's. I still cant believe what you get hand held :)

I especially like the colours in pic #3 ... excellent

I don't make comment on sharpness etc. in this forum as I know it is not easy.
Also I know that you are aware of sharp or not.

Always look forward to everyones posts here; there is so much inspiration !!

Cheers

Thanks Pablo. Hand held is possible with some practice. Don't breathe when you shoot with arms tucked as close to your body as possible. Lean on some support if any.

But don't forget to breathe after shooting.

As I shoot wide open with a f3.3 zoom lens, depth of field is not that good. I understand what you mean about sharpness.

How's the weather over there, the 4 days of rain over yet?

Welcome back Max. Our next outing should be as soon as vortex and ark19 get their filters.

Not doing a MO for the R72, but it's the Ilford SFX 200 IR filter. Ark and vortex are actually waiting for stocks of the R72 to arrive at Lords. Think it should arrive this week or next. Your fingers itching huh?

Dennis you're supposed to be back from holidays too. How come no picture, no sound from you in this thread?

Too busy and nothing to show leh. Holiday are all snapshots of my family.
Waiting for next outing already. BTW it seems like the SFX 200 is not big enough to work with 77mm lens leh ?? any bigger size ones ?.

You're right SFX200 is only 75mm square, don't think there are any bigger size ones unless you use the gelatin.

It seems that the E-300 is much more sensitive to IR than the 20D. Just did a quick test before going to work, on my new E-300 (with the kit lens) and found that I could get an IR image at ISO 100 with an exposure test of 15s (compared to ISO 400 and 25s for the 20D). Will need to post-process later to se what kind of colours I can get out of the IR images as captured by the E-300.

Hi everyone, I own a C5050Z for about 2 years. Experimenting with it everyday, and today I found out that it can actually shoot INFRARED!

This location is in Australia. The filter I used are non-conventional R72/R90. Its actually some HOME-MADE items...

All the IR enthusiasts here... Please give me some comments regarding this NON-CONVENTIONAL way of shooting IR...

Is it true that R72 for Oly C5050 only produce BW images? Are there any other type of IR filters suitable for Oly C5050?

"Inspired by Andi, friend of Dennis Kee..."

What filter system is this filter compatible with? The 3"x3" Lee filter system? In any case, unless the DSLR is a full frame one like the 1Ds, the multiplication factor of 1.5-1.6x would ensure that there is no vignetting when this filter is used on a 77mm lens.

The other alternative is to get the Cokin P007 Infrared filter. That will fit a 77mm lens with the 77mm adapter ring. I know because I have one and it fits properly on my 77mm lens. CP is selling this filter at $36.20 but unfortunately they have no stock at the moment (I bought the last one :D ). Do note that this filter though it is rated at the same Wratten 89B as the Hoya R72 filter, is not completely opaque and may not work well for those DSLRs with long exposure time requirements for IR photography.
