A question,
Are not Gelatin filters similar in thickness and durability as say 35mm film.
(That is the only example I can think of :dunno: )

If that is the case, I guess you would have to take great care not to crease or scratch it accidently :dunno:

I have not seen one but the idea sounds like colour filters used for stage spot lights.

Just a thought. :)

There are some which are thicker, about 1mm and feels more like plastic. They come in a plastic container for safe keeping. I have some Hoyarex effects filters, although they come in containers they are very prone to scratches through rough use. My idea was if there are such IR filters in the size of 75mm x 75mm, then it can be used by holding in front of the lens when shooting instead of having to screw it onto the lens.

Looking for a lazy way out, and since they're 75mm square it will be usable on different lens filter sizes. :bsmilie:

Here's the thread for the consolidated order from B&H which was started yesterday. Still valid, I guess.

B&H Consolidated Order

Interested to order and save on shipping cost?

Thanks for the link! :)

hopefully can save some $$ on shipping cost.

Found This Website selling the R72, 62mm and 67mm size at USD$54.95, don't know what's the shipping cost like. But I think it may still be cheaper as compared to local prices.

Gelatin filters for camera lens are much higher quality and need to handle with care, (If I'm correct, only using on lens than we call it gelatin filter, common size are 75mm and 100mm), I using 87 Lee filter on my D100, you guys should have seen the IR shots I posted in this thread, effect is more like monochome, anyway I prefer monochome, like what I shot with Kodak HIE, have not try with my D70 yet.

Not really, CP is selling the 62mm at $60 and the 72mm at $130+.

Thanks for that price update at CP tomcat. Many of us are looking for the 67mm size for the D70 kit lens, do you happen to know what the price?

Wah, y is it so difficult to get 67mm R72? Still waiting for it.... well, here are some shots today using my "improvised" 52mm R72.... when out to shoot even when the weather wasn't good... effects weren't very good :(

Hi Guys!!
Went Fort Canning yesterday morning for a shoot. Well the day was beautiful. lucky for me. The heavy rain comes in when I am done with all the shooting.

This is the first time that I actually take a slow walk and enjoy the architech.

The sun on this morning is to my liking. I like the contrast it cast on the building.

10578MemoryLane.jpg

I think you guys would have seen this wall lotsa time. but have you really read what is being engraved on it? They are there for remembrance for those who have parted in the 1850s. That is about 150 years!!

10578Fort_Gate.jpg

This is the fort gate. I was really surprised that fort canning was once a real FORT. heehee. stupid also know :embrass:

10578FC_Park.jpg

After the walking and shooting. Boy am I gald to find this. Resting place. Found the vegetation around the bench ideal for IR. so took a shot here before I take my rest.

Comment on the above pix please. How do I get rid of the blue stray light on the fort gate pix??

Pablo, vortex,

I think I'll stick with the R72, happy with it. The RM90 is a much darker red IR filter, it will take longer exposure time and if I use that I'll definitely have to carry a tripod to shoot IR. (still too lazy to carry one). Pics from the RM90 are more BnW if no pp is done, but I guess some colours can still be achieved from the colour channels in PS.

I was toying with the idea of buying the Ilford Gelatin IR filter to try out as it's quite cheap. But the shipping cost, argh too high. There's another thread here where someone is gathering up orders ot buy form B&H to save on shipping cost, will look for the thread and let you guys know.

Yes Pablo, I do think that there are some IR pros who are lurking this thread to see if we're doing right. Hope these guys would come on in to shed some light, we need more light for IR.

Adiemus is one guy who was and I think still is interested in IR. But too bad, he had to swap his camera and R72 for nappies and milk bottles for the time being. Hey Adiemus, nice to see you back here and your post, come join on our next shoot if you can.

Anybody tried the B+W Tiffen 29?

Hehehe.... No choice leh.... when you have a baby... a father is born!
Will try to take here and there. I hope to join you guys soon. Will keep you posted! ;)

IR IR all the way....

The various filters you ppl mentioned seem interesting. Hope you guys can post the results here.

Anyone tried a Wratten filter before? Also anyone got a B+W IR filter, care to share pics?

Wow, very nice surreal feeling!
Good ones PandaOng
Like those CG rendered scenes ;)
