Hi everyone, I own a C5050Z for about 2 years. Experimenting with it everyday, and today I found out that it can actually shoot INFRARED!

This location is in Australia. The filter I used are non-conventional R72/R90. Its actually some HOME-MADE items...

All the IR enthusiasts here... Please give me some comments regarding this NON-CONVENTIONAL way of shooting IR...

Is it true that R72 for Oly C5050 only produce BW images? Are there any other type of IR filters suitable for Oly C5050?

"Inspired by Andi, friend of Dennis Kee..."

Hi Guys,
We seems to have left our our friend here. Hello acrylonithrill, What is your non-conventional filter? care to share? maybe our friend ark and vortex can use it temporary.

Hi Teerex, I also itchy lei! U know how terrible it is to shoot IR on D70 with a 52mm R72

Called Lords, no stock yet. Went by Alan Photo, haven't mention thread size he already guess it's 67mm. Looks like lots of demand but no supply

Maybe vortex was there eariler. haha :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Hi teerex,
Yes the weather is not so bad right now, but it does get overcast quickly at the moment.
I have tomorrow off and hope it stays sunny long enough to have a good play.

If all goes well, I hope to post tomorrow night.
I will probably look like a geek because I will be taking the S602 and the 20D and 2 tripods.
If I don't get a good shot, at least I will get an interesting remark or 2 haha

say if we use a particular CWB set today....and i find one of the photos very good for IR. then i keep it.

then next day....i set CWB again. then later i not happy....then i use the photo CWB.

haha...is that possible? :bsmilie:

how much would a extension tube cost and how much lens can it hold?
Hi Puakk, an extension tube cost between $20-40 depends. It can hold one lens at a time. There's a A80 add-on lens thread in Canon forum, check it out.

Dennis, if you are selling your 62mm filter let me know, ok ;) ? I need new filter, now that my add-on lens is 62mm :( .

I had posted the reply to Max2.8 in another thread. "Infrared Shot with Olympus C5050Z"

Sorry abt that. The Orange thing is to preset the White Balance for digital users. Than the hoya case, there's a type where you have to twist and open, that round container. Remove the padding and clean as clean as possible, but watch out for scratches or fogging by some cleaning chemicals... ;)

Thanks dude. I finally understand. The Orange thing is only for customising WB. BUt the Hoya case, ours here is rectangular not circular.

So what did you make your IR filter with?

For my Oly C5050, the filter size is 43. So I got those small containers upon request from K7 when I buy my filters. I don't know whether it have in bigger sizes...

Why not you take a pix and post it here, then vortex, ark19 and me can benefit from you.

Sorry Max but not at the moment until the 77mm ones comes down in price.
Anybody giving up a 77mm IR let me know ??.

Probably this thread has boosted up sales of the R72 for the shops.
High demand, not supply - this may inflate the price.

Have you tried calling the local importer of Hoya products? If I'm not wrong the local importer is:-

Seng Cheong Co (Pte) Ltd
Middle Rd #04-01/02 I C B Enterprise Hse Singapore 188972
Tel : 6336 3244
Category : Photographic Equipment & Supplies-Retail

No harm giving them a call I guess.

Only one CWB can be recorded and stored in the D70 at a time. So everytime you want to use another CWB, you have to set again.

Setting CWB from photos is a bit tricky as the camera needs a full frame of the colour you want to set to be accurate. Unless you are able to get a full frame of the colour you want, the CWB set with photos may not be acceptable by the camera. Maybe you can try and let us know if it is succesful.

BTW did you get the actions I sent?

Interesting technique, giving a twist to IR photography. Different results can be got from your technique and some post processing. Here's one.
