First one has the signature glow of IR film, so you may be right that it is IR film. Seems like it is difficult to achive it using digital.
Second one I am caught with the green of the greenery. Must have been post processed with different colour mixing. I kind of like the green like that though.
Seems like there are many colour possibilities with IR photography. Which should make it interesting.

That's what I thought, that glow seems that it could only be achieved on film.Dennis said:
Post processing is capable of giving different effects for IR. Like what tomcat showed in one of his post where he could get green and red for the trees. Have to have guru like him to share his experiences in post processing.Dennis said:

I think you miss out the grain (Noise) which is one of the characteristics of IR photography. nice glow you get there...but careful of the detail...you might overexposed them.

If I had results I was happy with, I would be only too happy to share and ask for comments/criticize. But so far I am not happy with my attempts as yet. :cry:

I no expert man, I also newbie but Penda already mentioned grain needs to be in part of the picture in film IR but hey who is to say that it does not work.
It does show that glow is hard to get on digital. I believe the glow may be more pronounce if the original on digital is slightly overexposed and if possible with high iso and higher contrast (just guessing). IRMan mentioned that there is no correct exposure when taking in IR so I guess we will have to experiment. Your photo does look more natural in B&W than in colour and I like the overall softness and feeling.
BTW I like a photo by how the photographer present it and his feelings, there is no right or wrong and it does not matter what medium and how it should be in a certain medium. So what if the result is a noise free photo even if it is taken in IR. It may well have been that what is achievable in digital is not achievable in film and vice versa.

I ask this as you mentioned about some photo's that it may have had the IR glow due to using IR film.
What would be the outcome if you used an IR filter on a film camera with standard film (not IR film). :dunno:

Vortex, the green cast is because of glare leakage when U place the IR filter in front of the lens, make sure no gap leaving between the filter and lens.
Teerex, nice try on the b&W pictures. But i guess you'd used diff layer to create the glow, then merging together. But you had forgotten to sharpen and contrast it further ( cos IR film is contrasty ), try out again and i am sure it will looks like reall IR film !
Pablo, U can't use IR filter with normal film, no IR effects come out at the end cos IR filter letting normal light and the IR wavelenght pass thru, but the film is not sensitive to capture the IR wave, so no IR appear just normal B&W picture you'll get. If really normal film can get IR effects, then I am really glad cos it will save me a lot on film $$$$
