You might want to hold on for awhile.
The test is not conclusive yet.
Seems different from IR72 and also results are not similar.
I find too much normal colour and post processing seems difficult.

Anyone else ordering from edmundoptics then? start an MO then collect at funan/seed?

I would want one 4"x4" square from them (cokin P series filter size)

but first, lets see some pix from those filters 8)

Wah... I know I'm super late...

But....

:cheergal: Happy New Year IR Pals :cheergal:

Wow  They are neat photo's.
I like the colour and sharpness.
You have shown me something I have been wondering about .......
"How good can an IR photo be without channel mix"

There have been times I have regretted not buying a D70 (each time is when
I see pour IR photo's :bsmilie: ).

Hi eawtan,

Nice photo's; I especially like 1 and 4.

Is that vignetting on photo 1 :dunno:

Some vignetting due to stacking of thick (old) polariser with R72.... need to get a thin or larger diameter polariser ...

Hi,

So you use a polariser with the IR filter :dunno:
I have tried the same but it just made the exposure time longer.

How do you find it ? (seems ok from your posts)

I just started using the polariser (with IR) today, should do some tests to see if there's any difference ...

Hi Teerex,
I like the colour, very "fu gu", like grandfather era photos
Also very sharp. Too bad, start work today... or i'll be out shooting :(

loupgarou,
as Dennis had replied, you might want to wait for us to test it out or test it out with ur DC in next outing...
Btw, there is no 4" x 4". Closest is 4" x 5"...

I buying D70 lah... but "sheet" really happened when I dismantled my C5050Z. Every stupid screws on the casing are different when I mixed them up in a bowl. Now got protruding screws... Unmatched screws... Hahaha... But luckily still can use...

Wow, you REALLY dismantled ur DC?
So how? Managed to remove hot mirror?

Hahaha... Forget to complete my story... I only managed to remove 6 screws. The rest are too bloodie tight. I only managed to have a PEEPing slit... hehehe.... Now left with 2 screws can't put in and 1 missing screw.

I think 4" x 5" can also fit into cokin P series filter, the 5" part will of course extend further..

meanwhile, can try making a shot of a hot oven? lots of IR there.. heheh..
IR process of baking brownies would be fairly interesting material

HOT OVEN?

hahaha... I tried gas stoves too... but seems not strong enough leh the IR...

Pablo - Thanks. I actually wanted to see the difference in DOF. The second shot was in Aperture Priority f/8, 1/3sec, the first in Programmed Mode f/3.3, 1/13sec. This time I used a tripod :bsmilie: for those shots.

ark - I like the colour also, kind of sepia look. It would be nice to shoot a nice photo in this colour and print on canvas. How is your test with the Edmund filter coming along. Like vortex, I'm still waiting for the Ilfordo to arrive.

I don't think flame by itself does anything much, try heating a wok or a frying pan, maybe cook an egg sunny side up. IR egg would be interesting too.

Hehehe... I take a longer time to compose and shoot than cook an egg... Tried to shoot but end up burnt egg instead of fried IR egg... :)

Hi Teerex,
no time to try the ELP filter :(
Have to wait till weekends to try as I'm working....
But like Dennis mentioned, initial tests results show that it allows more visible light to pass thru... Actually, will a ND filter help to decrease the amt of visible light going thru?

Thinking of getting the Manfrotto 190 ProB+486RC2... will  whenever I use my tiny Slik Sprint Pro. Is this a good combo?

I'm not familiar with the Manfrotto 190, but I'm using the 484RC2 on an old tripod. I replaced that tripod old 3 way head with the 484, I like it very much. Convenient and easy to position. Occasionally I use this head on a slik monopod. I do not invest in a tripod and head as I very seldom use them.

Watch your weight when using the ballhead, tend to tip when mounted with a camera with long lens. Unless you're ready to pay heaps, most cheap ballheads cannot support a long lens.

Dennis may be able to help with a good recommendation.
