In fact, I'm meeting a friend (on Sat afternoon, I may not make it in the morning) who is curious abt IR and was hoping to test out the R72 on his cam. Could we quickly fix the time, and I'll inform him abt this outing.

Thanks Max for your compliments and opinions.

ark19 got his R72 today (vortex too if I'm not wrong). He's itching already, has suggested that we go shooting this Sat. 08/01 at Kallang River area. Anyone interested? We can meet at the area just after Medeka Bridge facing the river. Let's see response before we confirm the time (preferably in the morning). We have only tomorrow to finalise if we're going on Sat.

I think I can put ark in the list.

Dennis, Adiemus, Max2.8, vortex, loupgarou, eawtan, acrylonithrill, quekky, tomcat, josho, littledigitalartist. You guys available to come along? Hope I have not missed out anyone.

Oh yes, Pablo you too if you can get a flight out :bsmilie:

I have no IR filter at the moment, just IR actions. hahah....
I'm waiting for the COKIN P007 89B to reach singapore, I ask cathay/florence to call me once it arrives. meanwhile, you guys can take using the edmundoptics one and see how.. (maybe too much visible light? would ND filter stacked help? or ND also cuts IR)

I was thinking, if the ELP filter let's in some visible light, then would it be possible to stack a 25A (or 29) together to remove the remaining blue/green portions.

Hope you are not planning to use the Cokin P007 on your 300D or 20D. I have one and it doesn't work on the 20D. It's much worse than the ELP filter to me. :(

what do you mean by doesn't work? ie: lets no IR in, or lets visible light in?

Appreciate some opinions from you guys on these pics. What do you guys think of with and without channel swapping?

I'm losing resolution when resizing pics for posting, anyway to resize and maintain original resolution.

It lets too much visible light through that it drowns out the IR effects and the image just looked like a very badly exposed dark red normal photo. I think this is mainly because the exposure time needed by the 300D/10D/20D is too long that too much visible light is let through.

What's your workflow to get the leaves white?

Did you increase the hues and decrease the saturation on the yellow?

Have you taken into consideration that the 12-24mm or Tamron 11-18mm may not be suitable for IR due to severe hot-spot problem? So far I have not heard of any super-wideangle zoom lens apart from the Canon 17-40mm L lens that could be deemed to be suitable for IR use. You might want to borrow one from a friend to try out first to avoid being disappointed later on. :dunno:
.

sorry ah..pardon my ignorance.
but would using the 12-24 on a D70 get hotspot? :dunno:

loupgarou: i have the Cokin P007...u can use mine when we have the outing.

anyways....i also got my R72 liao!!!! Cheong down immediately after i finished dinner just now :bsmilie:

the stressful part abt the WA lens is..the filter size. sigma one is like i have to put on some hood thingy..to use a 82mm filter??
nikon 12-24...is 77mm...where the R72 would obviously cost a bomb.
i thought we can use like some gelantine filter thing at the back??
i asked the shop guy...but he say cannot leh :dunno:

i dont mind go shooting this sat.....provided im on off. will let u guys know tmr once i know whether im working or not this sat.

Brother..... brother....

Cannot leh. I'm working this Saturday.

Hi Teerex, I ran the My_IR action, adjust yellow lightness and red lightness.
Didn't change Master Hue settings.

Wah, Teerex u faster than me ;)
Finally after so many weeks of calling Seng Cheong and Lords checking to see if that precious black piece of magical filter has arrived anot, I finally got it  If only there is more Teerex might have bought too...
Even David from Lords is puzzled why I'm so anxious to get the filter that he ask me to show what sort of pics will come out of it. Maybe print one and display there to advertise for D70 and R72 :bsmilie:

If you want to order the R72 filter, just give David a call at 62354605.
He's willing to order.

Will be bringing the ELP 67mm and 3" to the shoot to test. But have a feeling R72 will beat it hands-down. Perhaps Max and others can test to see if it's more suitable ;)

Hi Ark, how much did you pay for the R72 filter? stock available?
Thx

Thanks Vortex....ya so funny why they only ordered 2?
Is this made in America or Japan.. maybe I could ask my colleague to help me next time.

The last time I was at Cathay Photo which was last week, they still have stock for the 62, 67 and 72mm R72 filters. Is it because of their prices that you don't want to get from them? :dunno:
