Wah Votex the tree looks very good expecially the sky.
Must go and try already.

Hey guys,
really feel that I am missing a good time after seeing all the shots that you'll took at Chinese Garden. So when will be the next one? I will not miss it this time round.

And Ark, thanks for your PS action. How is your Long pass filter?

Vortex, Lone Tree  . Beautiful sky, like ark said adjust the colours of the tree to get the snowy effect.

Josho, littledigitalartist, next outing should not be too long from now. Since ark and Dennis have got their new filter, they'll be itching.

Hope vortex and my Ilford come soon, so we can try at the next outing also.

Panda, you did not miss anything. That day was bad, too overcast. Hope the next will be a bright sunny day.

Thanks. my 3" one does not fit after removing the clips. It is about 1mm bigger so I fitted it onto the front where the filter thread is and it is a perfect fit. I managed to put some glue on it and voila it is a 77mm IR. No chance to try it yet. Will be getting my IR light today or tomorow once I find time for it.

BTW the filter seems different from the Hoya R72, when I hold it up against some FL lights at home the R72 shows red but the Edmunds ones show green ??.

Yup, looks different....
Actually you can sand-paper the edges to fit ;)
Weather still dull.... :(

PandaOng, no prob, hope the action is useful :)
Weather still dull, can't really test :(

No problem, anyway too late liow I have already superglued it already, could not wait to put it on.

thanks for the comments guys :sweatsm:

yea i believe there was some flare due to the nature of the cokin filter...plus i was there around noon...so the sun was directly above me. there were some other shots that was even worse with very obvious "spots".
i maxed out the hue part for the yellow channel already...so i dunno if that was the whitest i could go :bsmilie:

i went to CP already..but sadly they do not have the modular hood in stock. im not sure if it will prevent flare or leakage or not. but i guess its worth a try.

yea hopefully my Ilford comes soon...so me and teerex got another new filter to play with. hehee.
im still waiting for the goddamn R72 though

Can get the Hoya R72 whicj most of us are using.
62mm should cost around $55-$60 I think.

Thanks mate!

Vortex- nice pic wor! ;)

teerex - noted! Thanks :sweatsm:

Today's weather still very bad.
Tried out ELP filter:

Effects not very good, but that might be due to the weather

Hi Ark19,

The filter looks very promising
I can't wait to see more. You maintain good colour and sharpness :)

ark,

Did you reset CWB to the new filter, or use old CWB?

Yup, reset the CWB to the sky.
Guess the ambient light is too weak.
If it works, this will be a very good filter as you can see thru the viewfinder, unlike R72, which remains opaque.

Hi Pablo,
Thanks :) How's the weather at ur side?
In Sg, it has been either raining or overcast with grey skies....

Compared with R72

Ark,
What is the setting for the 2 filter? are they having the same setting? If you are able to see-thru, wonder if used with 20D will cut down the Shuttle speed.

ark, try again tomorrow if the sun is out. This time set your CWB to a patch of green grass. The result will be different, you should get better whites on the leaves of trees and grass. Yes ambient light also play an important part in the results.

This looks like wrong CWB, notice that the grass and leaves are blue?

Hi PandaOng,
R72- 1/1.3s F/3.5
ELP- 1/8s F/3.5

Paiseh, I set to P mode, so settings different.
Want to try for 20D?

Hi Teerex,
Both were post-processed using the same Action.
Tried to change the Hue of the grass, it's actually Cyan colour
CWB on grass, why didn't I think of that :embrass:
Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for good weather tomorrow

Seems like the ELP filter allows more visible light to go thru.....

Hello there,
One from today. Actually the only reasonable one :embrass:

Hi Ark19,
The weather is good one minute, bad the next right now.
Today was hot and sunny but very windy.

Cheers :)

While I think of it.

Has anyone had any luck with that link I gave some posts back.
The one where I am putting IR originals :dunno:

If so, let me know and I will put others there if anyone wants to play with them.

:) :)

Hi ark, Thanks for testing. have not got the time.
I now have the 77mm one ;)
Anyone want to try on next outing let me know.
I have step up rings for most sizes as well.
The filter looks good to me and can also compose better.
Will be getting some more on the next purchase it it proves OK

Pablo, I had no problem with that link.

The colours of the pics taken with the ELP filter remind me of those I took with the Cokin IR filter. The Cokin IR filter is also not opaque and allows composing through the viewfinder. The filter obviously allows visible light to pass through since we can see through it and this has allowed the green colours of foliage to show up in the pics taken with it. It is interesting to note that 'green' does not seem to sexist in the IR false-colour schemes. It's presence would indicate a contamination of IR 'colours' by colours of the visible spectrum making the post-processing process more difficult and the end results less attractive, unless of course you happen to like 'blue' foliage. :)
