Infrared Photography

Hey Guys, I have a suggestion. Since now most of us are trying with different camera as well as different IR filter. Maybe we can come out with the list of stuff that we own. We can do a study on equipment and come out with a guide for reference. I feel that it will not only benefit us, but all who are interested in Digital Irfrared Photography. What do you guys think?

1) We could set up a tripod and mount different cam on it.
2) we could also test a camera with different filter to see the effect.

I reckon that it will be a lot of work and some expert view on it. Are you guys game on it?

We gotta make the community stronger and hope to see more input.

maybe we shall come out with the list first ya?? here goes.

there seems to be some 'strange lines' in my pictures....is it flare???
would a modular hood for the cokin holder prevent it???

Hey Vortex, Try shooting into the black sky without any filter on (do it at night, ) check if the noise still appear. if it does. head to Nikon service center when you see the first light.

Good Idea and please wait till we get the other filter.

Sorry i changed it to the 3" round ones already.
I think I can fit it to a 77mm filter. No more getting the 4" x 5" already.

I shot with R72, but as you said, b/w only. Luckily i borrowed the R72. Ever thought of getting a series like R90 also. But seems like our this baby pro cam has its limits... Guys there, which cam does the best COLOR ir shots?

max....you can use my 52mm R72 if it fits yours since i have no use for it currently.

waiting forever for the 67mm

how how...this weekend go shoot????

anyways the noise or "lines" in my picture..i suspect because i went to boost up the levels in photshop cause they were slightly 'dark' or underexposed. or either that...the PS action im using isn't good enough.

Hi Vortex,
after using the filter cover plastic to take, I noticed the noise similar to the ones in ur photo...
But it was taken quite late, so not enough sunlight I guess....

Where to shoot? How abt Botanic Gardens? Or my favourite IR scene, Bedok Reservoir? Or Upp Pierce Reservoir, but this one need transport to go in...

Let us know and if possible I will join in. BTW I think Botanic Gardens is good, planty of greens and can also shoot other stuff.

vortex, noise can be reduced. Use the ISO NR Action i sent to you.

Here's the result after running the action on your picture. Reduced the noise around the opening and increased sharpness slightly on the trees and building. Seems to have created more depth in the picture.
Your opinions???

Notice there's a big circle in the middle of the pic. Guess the 10D is not suitable for infrared?
