Wow, this thread goes so fast, need some time to review all your beautiful great shots, you guys really fast in posting.
Look like G2 ccd also cannot produces Color IR

wat to do...teerex gave us a deadline :bsmilie:

dennis: i prefer the colours in the 2nd pic.

Dennis,
1st. pic - purple coconut trees against the greenish sky is unique but my choice is 2nd. pic. Brown leaves, sky, less blown highlights
Looks like you have 3  for the 2nd. pic.
Don't say teach lah! We share and learn from each other.

just curious, anyone shooting IR with a D70 here? :)

I am using D70 for the IR shots. I believe teerex also uses a D70 for his shots.

Don't forget Christmas is coming, find Santa Claus fast :bsmilie:

Thanks to all, looks like extreme colours are not good.
I will stick to more natural corrections next time.
I changed the colours because while playing with the corection it gives me a feeling of the mood the pictures give when the colours are changed, especially the last one and entirely change the perspective of the photo. Now when I look back I think the one with the green sky is the worst !!. What on earth am I doing ??.

Very much! But the price of a 77mm R72 filter is what puts me back. Have also read on dpreview.com the weakness of the 20D and the strong IR abilities of the Sigma cameras.

My 12-24 is a 77m thread and the kit lens is at 67mm. If I'm not wrong the 77 R72 sets a person back at 200++SGD?? Anyone knows how much the 67mm costs?

When's the next outing? I'm currently in the midst of my exams now and I'll end on the 29th after which I'm flyin to Japan on the 4th. Which is why the facination and interest in IR photography as Japan has some really nice canopies for memorable and WOW shots. :blah:

Any pointers are more than welcome.

Yes 77mm is very expensive, around $200+, I am using a 62mm instead of a 67mm. The 62mm is $50+ and the 67mm is $80+. Forget to add, if you use the 62mm with step down on the 12-24mm you can only use it from 18mm onwards, otherwise it vignets. Hopes it helps.

Hi guys,
You have done some great shots, thanks for sharing and keep them coming. :D
Btw, the shots of botanic garden, is using D100 with the 18-70mm, ISO200, F5.6, 3sec, with 87 filter, raw file.

I wonder why the exponential increase in R72 filter prices! Dennis, don't mind me asking but what lens are you generally shooting with the 62mm? the 18-70 DX kit lens?

whats the thread of the kit lens? 62 or 67? I'm a little confused right now.

Dennis,
I vote for 8386.. nice composition with "cherry blossom IR trees"..wow, now you can shoot "blindly" so well.

Oh sorry I did not make clear, I am using the Sigma 18-125mm for IR shots. It use the 62mm size filter. As this is the most economical IR filter I use this rather than pay extra $30 for the 67mm. I would love to have the 77mm as almost all my other lens are 77mm but it is simply too expensive. The kit lens is 67mm.

Thank you Dennis, I knew I bought 67mm filters.. :bsmilie: Your webshots account doesn't show any EXIF information as such I'm unable to determine what (mm) you shot at. Were they all shot at the wide end on the Sigma?

If only I could persuade my parents to buy me that early Christmas present, a 77mm R72 filter. :P Maybe show them a few of your photos. hurhur
