lol,now I've seen it all.
lol,
TS is looking for photographers willing to shoot for shelter and transport. So this is shoot for free lar?
must photographer bring their own maggie mee or not?
now who is more pathetic? photographers or..........??
it has come to our attention that there are a number of people asking photographers/models to work for free/pittance because they are on a 'tight' budget.
please take note that CS strongly discourage asking photographers/models to work for free/pittance, unless it is for a charity or other noteworthy causes (subjected to prior approval by the CS Admins). such posts will be summarily deleted.
we had mention it many times, even put it in the sticky thread...
all such freeloaders' threads we will delete when spotted, but personally, I will let some threads surface occasionally, to serve as education purposes....
let members learn how to deal with such requests, let photographers learn how to say "No" in many ways, let everyone knows how we feel about this.![]()
Do you, as a newbie photographer, junior photographer, emerging photographer, aspiring photographer, up and coming photographer, in whatever name you call yourself,
in order to gain experience and build portfolio, willing to let such people taking advantage on you?
it this the way to go?
David I strongly disagree with 1 and 5 and possibly the red text too. For me, the right thing to do is to state BEFORE agreeing or going over what you are willing to put in this project (? - treat it like one) (time, effort, equipment, money, pictures delivered, copyright of use etc, food, transport etc, all go into your point 2), and what you expect to get out / what you expect to find (free make up artist, model, accomodation, water, etc etc). If you can't agree terms with them, just walk on. Don't waste your time! Not stopping people shooting free to get portfolios.
My advice for such case:
1. That newbie or whatever go shoot free, please do not give them any images, shoot is free but images must charge. Per image bridal shop is charging $80, so you can charge them the same rates.
2. List down the details in contract, failing to do so you may end up in bad situation.
3. Always ensure even shoot free, tell them a must to hire an make up artist, it helps. (Imaging shoot free for portfolios, but bad make up cannot produce good results).
4. Good to states the duration, you wanna wake up 2am for them??
5. Since it is free, and most likely no contract, you are entitled to shoot as you want, disappear as you want. If you think you have enough shots, wanna stop, please stop. Do not need to listen to them.
PLEASE REMEMBER SHOOT IS FREE BUT IMAGES IS NOT!!!
