Ah.. this question might have been asked before, but are there any comments on the pros and cons between a Carl Zeiss 50mm lens (say f/1.4) and the Nokton 50mm f/1.1 (or maybe the other 50mm with smaller apertures)?
Just got the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1, accurate colors in good light. Carl Zeiss ZM 1.5 or 25mm f/2.8 have slightly warmer but still accurate colors, very pleasing. All look good to me, just slightly different presentations.
I find the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 as my favorite lens so far from the brand. Very sharp at f/5.6 (of course, all good lenses should be), and truly a delight in low light shooting.
However, 1m minimum distance from subject ... This does affect the perspective, even bokeh. Here are some samples I took with both Summicron and Voigtlander to demonstrate, on an Olympus E-P2 however. All at minimum focusing distance.
50mm Summicron f/2 ver. 6, with Leitz 39mm close-up filter, f/2, narrow DOF
50mm Summicron f/2 ver. 6, without close-up filter, f/2
50mm Nokton f/1.1, at f/2
50mm Nokton f/1.1, at f/1.1 - white balance changes to less ambient light too
So not really ideal for small objects, uncropped, but no problem with bigger subjects, like people. And the f/1.1 is definitely a great feature. I took several shots of a fortune-telling session in a very dark shadowy area at night, ISO 400, f/1.1, 1/15. And this is the last shot where they got startled by someone and the fortune teller is about to stand up to chase me away.
