Hmmm....

I personally would go for the Nokton F1.1, modern lens.

The Canon F1.2 is known to be soft wide open at 1.2. Based on my experience, that is true but once stopped down to F4, sharp. Cant remember how the Canon 1.2 is at F2.8 though...

Only thing I didnt like about the Nokton F1.1 is the min distance of 1meter for a modern lens. Would definetly be on my next to buy list:thumbsup:

It's a conspiracy!! hehehe.........:bsmilie:

Ya...lol...must get commission from Chiif...

The more good Nokton 1.1 picture you pose, the more com. u get. :bsmilie:

More wide open shots

Even busier :). But that is knows for these lenses.

This one with an Angenieux 0.95 is nice, I feel it's a great composition, the swirl matching the chair angles and shape, as well as the tone matching the mood :

Ya...that one should have been converted by Japan master, that is not just "dream" lens, it is completely "crazy artistic bokeh"...:)

thanks for the advice!

the question of canon 1.2 ltm or nokton 1.1 is dependant on the look you are after. i own the canon 1.2 and love the soft glow and bokeh at 1.2 stopped down to 4, it's sharp enough for my uses during day time.

flickr is your best friend when in doubt over which lens to buy (where you can't test them out!)

its probably a situation of getting both for me.

there are some situations that simply cry for the glow but many others than require more 'conventional' imaging.

Colors seemed a bit off on the M9 (using a calibrated monitor), but my old setting was to underexpose on the M8/M8.2 by about 1/3 stop and lift the shadows later. Have not done it on the M9 yet. AWB needs improvement ...

Has this off-color on M9 been solved already? I am tired of waiting for the 50 Summilux, and after seeing the Nokton images here, I am impressed. Has the stock arrived in Singapore already? Thanks.

Firmware of the M9 is still the same. Just shoot in RAW and use a WhiBal or Spydercube if the shots are critical.

After a few months or draught... finally it's here again! :)

Well, Nokton is available already. As for me, assuming only able to get one, I'll get the modern lens too, and post-process for "glow" or softness if needed ... of course, it's different if on film, more work to get desired print in darkroom if done by yourself.

When 'modern' is being used in the context of lenses, is it modern=sharp=ASPH?
And classic=glow=dreamy=non-ASPH?

Ah.. this question might have been asked before, but are there any comments on the pros and cons between a Carl Zeiss 50mm lens (say f/1.4) and the Nokton 50mm f/1.1 (or maybe the other 50mm with smaller apertures)?

Just got the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1, accurate colors in good light. Carl Zeiss ZM 1.5 or 25mm f/2.8 have slightly warmer but still accurate colors, very pleasing. All look good to me, just slightly different presentations.

I find the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 as my favorite lens so far from the brand. Very sharp at f/5.6 (of course, all good lenses should be), and truly a delight in low light shooting.

However, 1m minimum distance from subject ... This does affect the perspective, even bokeh. Here are some samples I took with both Summicron and Voigtlander to demonstrate, on an Olympus E-P2 however. All at minimum focusing distance.

So not really ideal for small objects, uncropped, but no problem with bigger subjects, like people. And the f/1.1 is definitely a great feature. I took several shots of a fortune-telling session in a very dark shadowy area at night, ISO 400, f/1.1, 1/15. And this is the last shot where they got startled by someone and the fortune teller is about to stand up to chase me away.
