u forgot small but expensive stuff like battery, backup battery, backup backup battery, CF card, backup CF card, Image tank, camera bags, and also a powerful computer with software like Capture 1 and photoshop :D

hehe...I know. God knows how much I've spent on the "accessories". The point was that just lenses will set you back more than 10K :D

Thanks for all inputs. I'm just an amateur hobbyist.
My profession is IT networking.
Taking pictures have been my passion.
Currently I have a 10D and the 28-135 IS lens.

So it's better to upgrade to 20D and some L lens and save the money for travelling expenses (sounds great!)

Hi EosDslr

My recommendation to you is 20D.
If you are a pro, wartime photographer or make photography as your living, go for ID MK II.

Since you are a amateur hobbyist like me, invest more on lens as the value do not depreciate fast than the camera body itself.

If you are a pro

Why is that so? Higher MP, Bigger file size, so your CF card will store lesser crap :D

Nope it'll probably won't make much of a difference for me ... I'm shooting 4mp on the 10D ... I'll probably shoot 4mp on other cameras ... given my shooting style, why would I want to shoot higher mp?

My mindless comments is that if you are willing to spend 10K, go back to film and buy Leicas and some lenses.

Save more money and then buy the digital back for Leica. :D

Me too! We may be using an outdated model but it can still produce incredible pictures as long it's in capable hands. The temptions to move on to a newer or more advance models will always be there but we just need to constantly remind ourselves whether getting such camera bodies can significantly improve the quality of our work.

For me, I know the answer ... if I'm shooting crap with 10D, I'm quite likely to shoot more crap with a 20D, 1D MKII or 1DS MKII! :bsmilie:

Yah! Its a matter of self-discipline...Upgrading is a endless loop! Just like many other things, contentment brings happiness!

The best suggestion so far :bsmilie:

Actually i think for your style of shooting, a move to MF might be a good idea.

Well said Adam. Good advice there.

wow won toto or 4D?

i think no need for bodies if you still like your 10D,
buy what you need and only you know.
keep the rest of the money for a rainy day.

money does not come easy for most.
save it if you do not need it now. :)

Hi

U can approach Terrance for 1 stop shopping.

Personally after spending lots of $ of photog I am now contemplating on concentrating on my 30V and prime lens once my lust for 20D is over. :D

Perhaps save some more and get the EOS 1Ds Mark II?

Read that it's an impressive camera if you can live with 4 frames per second.

Cheers,

actually another way to put it is that, technology of body will supercede itself..
lens dont..
unless canon comes up with a LLL lens

So the general consensus is to purchase the L lens and ignore the body upgrade.

yeap..yeap

Wah...you never mention EF 400/4 DO IS before?

watever you do, dont touch the 16-35 L. the 17-40 is much better.

why do u say that? the 16-35 has 2 extra stops. Admittedly from reviews the 17-40 is sharper at f4 at 17mm, but depending on the requirements the 16-35 may be a good thing for the extra 2 stops at least.
