Hyperrealism

St Andrews Cathedral

I love this church so much but have always found it a challenge to compose it in a good way. I guess I've found a solution with the heavy downpour leaving a lovely reflection thus making the composition timeless and leading you the viewer to linger longer.

Just out of Singapore, this poles stuck in the mud bed are amazing to see. But to shoot them is another matter as standing on a concrete plank 2 feet wide for a long exposure with your tripod fully extended is pretty disciplined.

Waterfront Lot 1

Its eerie to see a place commonly associated with crowds abandoned and decaying. But other than that the local fisherman were warm and friendly making the experience here good.

Forgotten Foundations

An apt title as I threw away making everything straight and just leaving the poles twisted making the rows of poles seem almost soft like a field of long overgrown vegetation.

All Thats Left

With a city of no hope.

Really liked this piece that I feel portrays a kind of dooms day reality where people go on with their lives even after the buildings have toppled.

Treasures and Jewels

Another panorama taken with the fujifilm X-E1. This was not shot with the inbuilt panorama function but more rather the good old stitch by software method. I did try to take the scene with the inbuilt app on my panorama head but it read, "sweep straighter" I assure you I was as level as I could be.

It seems the app was design for handheld sweeps as I did it handheld and got a panorama. but it was not how I wanted it due to the large dynamic range of this backlit scene which require HDR to be done.

I hope you like the image and favourite it too! Thank you and have a great week!

The Matrix Reloaded

I must have taken the red pill cause what i see must be the machines taking over.

On a side note, I know you must be so sick of hearing about this.. but I really love the X-E1. I've been testing it and going mirrorless only days shooting as I would with my dslr and I've got to say, it's been really smooth transitioning into it.

The images come out similar quality but other than that colour wise I'm still not in full control yet. Perhaps due to the settings in the camera.

CRYSTALITES

I narrowly missed throwing this image away due to some frames having camera shake as I was using a joby gorrillapod to take this panorama on a round rail. Hurray for an obsessive need to take more frames than I needed..

Tiong Bahru Estates

One of Singapore's oldest estates, due to the recent years of development, Tiong Bahru is now littered with various high storey residential blocks ranging from measly 12 storey blocks to 30 storeys. However even with all these giants about, there is still the old charming neighbourhoods with 3 storey blocks around but who knows for how long.

EXALTED

The pursuit of perfection is a tiresome one. The one thing that money cant buy is your ambition and need to get better.

Every time a new fancy gadget comes out, I advice you to go out and give your old stuff a second try as you may find that what you already need is what you have.

Here is a rather meticulous image I just processed which involves heavy usage of manual blending over 3 tiles to form this vertorama. Not stopping there, I did a partial correction of verticals to create a more natural in-flight experience, someone like superman may get flying over the city.

I hope it worked and may give you the intended feel as you look at this image. Have a Great Weekend everyone!

I'll never get tired of hearing how good the Fuji XE-1 is cos its a fact that it's damn good. :)

ITE Central Panorama

Had the pleasure of being invited to share with youths nation wide about landscape and architecture photography where I talked for about 4 hours. Hopefully they enjoyed and learned from my experiences.

By the end of it, I was so amped to shoot this beautiful architecture where the talks were held and to top it off, the blue hour was so amazingly clean!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Wide Open Spaces

My first photo as I entered ITE central. What really drew me in was the perfect symmetry of the scene coupled with its sweeping curves. I'm a sucker for such grand architecture, always and forever will be.
