Hi all, I'm currently in Hkg. Walked whole of Mongkok and non sells lens with Int'l Warrenty.

Anyone can help?

I was looking for 16-35 f/2.8L II USM and was retailing @ hkg$11300. Everyone sells at this price without int'l warrenty.

Just wondering, warrenty is 1 year? Will your lens be spoilt within a year? Any cons from buying just hkg warrenty?

Canon no longer offers international warranty on their lenses.

YES YES...i got hold of 16-35 (int'l warranty) + 70-200 (hkg warranty).... i am a happy man now hahaha..... Great Savings as i did abit of bargain and had additional savings

If you are ok with China made brand bags, then Sham Shui Po Apliu street is the best place for it. As for filters, the price really varies from shop to shop and from quote to quote. This is one item that have the most people get cheated since it is not a big ticket item and usually people don't do enough research on the pricing.

I would suggest you focus on a particular brand/model and ask around on the price. That way, you will not be overpaying for it.

I wan in Min Shing where i got my lenses. The shop assistant was honest enough to tell me get the filters in SG. In hkg, there are many fakes and it's really tough to see the diff nowadays.

You need to be aware that the difference in price is between HK local sets and HK gray sets. If you are ok with the gray sets, you can call the companies that quoted the lower price and get it from them. Usually these shops are not well known shops that open their stores in Mongkok or Tsim Sha Tsui. They are usually located in buildings where the rental is much cheaper. Normally they can arrange delivery but not sure how soon that can be arrange if you are in a hurry.

price should be < sgd$600 ...

Tin Cheung is a reputable shop in HK (I would say it is the equivalent to Cathay Photo of SG) and you don't have to worry about not hearing from them after they take your money. But, price wise, they are not always the lowest so you have to do your homework. They sell both local and gray set so you also need to know what you are getting before handing over the money.

Wing Shing and Man Shing quoted the same price for both card and cash payments. For Tin Cheung, cash price is the same as the former 2, there's a slight markup for card payment though.
In the end, got from Wing Shing but no further discount given...

That's the good as well as bad about Wing Sing. You don't have to (and can't) bargain since they provide you with a standard quote (I am always wary about those shops giving you different quotes when you ask different sales). They also don't charge extra for credit card which is also a plus to me.
