oh isee.. any links to learn from ? ^^
Droozy, hmmm... This was taught to me by a good friend of mine. But honestly I couldn't find anything on the Internet that describes it directly. You may like to try and search.
But once you gotten your Oregon, let me know and I may be able to fax you the exact instruction he gave me.

What to say....such wonderful pics and so full of useful tips n info! Though i've nvr been to Japan ( and i doubt if i can ever afford ) ur travelogue is pro as close as one can get to the real thing. Kudos to the photographers and the willingness to share!

Hello dev2k8, thank you so much for your compliments. Life is like that- sometimes there is a wish that one hopes to fulfill and when the right time comes along, things will automatically fall into place.
I give you my sincere wish to attaining your hope of traveling to this lovely country one day.

Thanks for sharing. Love the photo specially the balloon text box.
Can share what software you used.

Thank you for your praises, Redantckc.
I use Photoshop CS4.

As of this moment, both myself and SereneXMM are still overseas and are eagerly awaiting to return to Singapore.
Thus our apologies for not updating this thread.
Will see you all soon.

Droozy, no it is not what the GPS shows. The Oregon has a software that will show you the exact track. I merely drew out the track on a Google map for clarity sake.

Asthio88, thank you very much for coming by on our track and for your kind words. It was our pleasure!

Excellent Travelogue!! The food pictures are really good! Was looking at them during lunch time and felt a pang of hunger and the desire for japanese food!

Thanks!

The gratitude should be mine, PopSoda!
Thank you so much for your praises.

It is with a pang of sadness (actually, pardon the pun) that we see what is happening in Japan over the past two weeks and the subsequent truncation of fresh food items from Japan in South East Asia countries, that made it not possible for us to enjoy Japanese food back here in Singapore for the time being.
Sincerely, I hope the Japanese will pull themselves out of this strong and well.
I am confident they will be able to do so, for they have the tenacity in character and the necessary social order.

EXTREME COLD TEST FOR DSLR

Hehe... I have always wanted to do this.
Always.
Just waiting for the right opportunity to do so only.

The temperature was about -3 degree celcius that afternoon.
Snowing it was.
And lots of old and new snow on the ground.
I gave SereneXMM a wicked grin, and then gently lowered my Canon 1DMkIV + 16-35mm onto the ground right in front of me.
Left it there for a good few minutes and all of us just squat down and observe it...

It sat there, and we squatted there, eyes non-blinking for quite a long while.
But at the end, the camera won.
It could withstand the cold and wetness much much better than any one of us.
HAHAHAHA....

other than the 16-35mm, what other lens were you using for your trip?

Hello sheiseha, I only had two lenses with me for the trip: the 16-35mm and the 70-200mm.
i would have loved to bring along other lenses but it was simply too heavy, with me having to carry the children around too... ;)... Hahaha...

i can understand that feeling. I travel with my 3 year old girl and she wants to be carried most of the time.

Many thanks for your kind words.
We are merely recording our trip for the fun of it and we are happy to share our little travelogue with our good friends here.

Hi limwhow,

Nice travelogue. I can see that you graffer tape your camera. Just curious. Are you trying to weather seal the camera by tcovering those gap?
Quite a good idea.

Hello shark,

Thanks for your compliments.
No, actually. I am doing it not for weather-sealing. I guess Gaffering it up doesn't help with the body and lens being already weather-sealed.
It was done so as to make it look really terrible and worn-out and ugly-looking. Really.

Oh my..finally ive reach the last page..cant believe it.. haha.. was on this thread since 10am !!
Very nice series with loads of photos.. looking at these photos feels like im in Hokkaido already. HAHA thanks for the "full coverage"

was about to ask the graffer tape thing until i saw the very last post.... Hmm so to look more low-profile?? Do you always have those tapes on the camera everytime or just for overseas trip? lol..

Once again. Thanks for being so nice to share your experiences and photos !
